Chapter XXI: An Unrequited Love [1]

HER GAZE HAD lingered upon the mirror on the wall ceaselessly since afternoon. Her soft lips was coated with pounded cinnabar and beeswax that produced a crimson hue, while her cheeks had a lighter shade of red where rouge was applied. Even the skin of her face was exceptionally pale with wheaten flour. She was already seen as a fair young maiden at court without all of the maquillage, nevertheless, she went to all such lengths. All for the sake of the one man she most admired. And that young woman on the mirror was Lady Wilhelmina Roswalt, eldest daughter of Lord Roswalt and heiress to the County of Rondelle. 

"Amidst the crisis there lies the opportunity," she softly whispered to no one but herself. "Today is the day we unite once again…"
