Chapter XXVIII: Raiders and Emissaries [1]

A LENGTHY COLUMN of carts and wagons stretched across the road known to locals as the Ordshire's Fork, a major trade route within the Barony of Gullford. As the rough clatter of wooden wheels rolling over the paved road resonated, the armed troupe continued its procession. It was heavily guarded by not the typical caravan guards, but mail-clad men-at-arms, actively drilled and trained every single day as a standing force. Such was the case for the contents of the cargo were of much higher value to be simply entrusted with ad hoc militia.
