When my vision adjusts, I find myself in a completely different space from before.

"This is..."

High above me is a sky on the brink of dusk or dawn, its hues painting the heavens in vibrant orange. Below me is a high platform of stone or concrete, and even further below, the ground stretches out, emphasizing my elevated position.

I glance around. To my left and right, I notice the platform I'm standing on is quite symmetrical, ending in geometric points. This symmetry leads me to conclude that the structure is man-made.

As I turn around, I find myself facing a magnificent medieval town. At its center, surrounded by the sprawling settlement, stands an awe-inspiring, Western-style medieval castle.

For a moment, I pause, captivated by the view. However, as my thoughts catch up, I realize something significant about the symmetrical, geometric structure I'm standing on.

"It's... a high medieval wall."

X> Ohh, fantasy structure confirmed. Any archaeologists here? Time to take notes for the thesis you're surely about to write.

X> Ohhh, fantastic! It seems I—ahem—it seems the archaeologist nerds have something worth exploring.

X> Ohh, the guy above me is a mole! Catch him!

X> It could be a her or them, you know.

X> Save that for later. Again, stop overwhelming the chat window and count properly!

Indeed, I am correct. This is a medieval wall. Speaking of which, as I move around to explore, I glance downward and notice what's beneath my feet.

"A gate? No, a portcullis. How coincidental, considering my earlier thoughts."

X> Well, actually, "portcullis" is the general term, but that particular style is called—

X> SHUT UP! Stop padding the word count!

X> Agreed. Shut up.

A standard medieval portcullis stands between the robust high walls, serving as the entrance from the outside world into the town within.

As I prepare to explore the town and the castle further, I suddenly hear a voice call out to me.

°Loid, I deployed a drone earlier when we arrived. I detected movement just outside the wall, in front of the portcullis.°

I turn my head and peer beyond the portcullis. In the distance, a hill obscures my vision. Moving to a higher vantage point, I focus beyond the hill and notice something peculiar.

A shadow is cast over the hill, and as I squint, I see the hooves of some animal stomping the ground, causing the shadow. The creature's legs—four of them—are covered in metallic-like armor.

At first, I think it's another bizarre creature with a metallic sheen to its body. However, upon closer inspection, I realize the truth.

It's a horse, clad in armor tailored to its form. Draped across its sides are patterned fabrics, clearly imbued with some symbolic meaning and to not cause any question why such animal has such suit on

Riding the horse is a humanoid figure, donned entirely in metallic armor. Without a doubt, this is—

X>A knight. A fantasy figure, without question!

X> Indeed! The embodiment of honor and chivalry! A fantasy relic from the Age of Knights!

X> Well, my brothers and sisters, does anyone see a female knight there? I need an authentic "just kill me" monologue.

X>Honor and Chivalry, I don't know about others but without a doubt the one above me have none, Scum at the core itself

X>Those who have agree etc.

X>Scums that been hit by the comment etc.

For a moment, I hesitate. The knight's presence feels both awe-inspiring and foreboding. Something about the way they move, their armor catching the last rays of the sun, makes my instincts sharpen.

°Loid, that knight isn't alone.°

Makina's words bring me back to reality. I glance behind the figure and spot more shadows emerging over the crest of the hill. One, two... no, an entire squadron of armored riders.

The rhythmic pounding of hooves grows louder.

(Drumming intensifies...)

°Prepare yourself, Loid. Base of my simulation, the incoming figures are hostile°

I steel myself, eyes fixed on the advancing riders. The medieval world just became far more dangerous.

"Makina, how much time do we have before they arrive?

°At most, an hour. Based on my calculations and previous encounters with projectiles, an hour is the best estimate. However, their ranged capabilities remain an unknown variable.°

"An hour feels like a long time, but now it doesn't seem nearly enough," I muttered. Then, with more resolve, I continued, "Makina, start preparing any defensive measures you can. Meanwhile, I'll buy us more time. I'll create obstacles—walls, pits, trenches, traps—anything that can make their journey here as painful as possible. I'll give them a hell of trip, Makina."

°Negative. The risks associated with such actions are too high. I cannot allow you to proceed with that plan. I will search for alternatives.°

"Don't underestimate me, Makina," I shot back. "With the Universal Grid and my shapeshifting abilities, I can evade them. If things get too dicey, I'll escape underground. I can merge with the ground and have it cover me entirely. Their ranged attacks won't be an issue if I act fast enough."

°Nonetheless, the unknown variables present too great a risk. Your plan is hereby rejected. Stand down.°

As our argument escalated, both of us stubbornly justifying our own strategies, a sudden voice cut through the tension.

The Soul Goddess, Aksa, stood still, her gaze fixed on the distant hill. Her eyes narrowed as if piercing through the very fabric of the scene before us. Then, as though struck by a revelation, she clapped her hands and addressed us firmly.

•Both of you, stop this pointless bickering. There will be no combat—not now, nor in the immediate future.•

Her tone carried an air of absolute certainty. Makina and I fell silent, though my curiosity pushed me to question her claim.

"Why do you think that, Goddess?"

Aksa turned her gaze to me, her expression calm but unwavering.

•You might not know this, but in this world, siege warfare follows a strict code. It is customary—almost universally upheld—that an attacking force waits until the following day before launching an assault. This is a demonstration of chivalry and justification, a symbolic gesture to prove their cause is noble and honorable.•

She paused, letting her words settle before continuing.

•Of course, the practical reason is that armies need to rest after traveling. However, the adherence to this code serves as a public declaration of their righteousness and discipline. If this force is truly noble and honorable, they will stop their advance here and now.•

The pounding of hooves echoed in the distance, steady and rhythmic as the knights approached the base of the hill. But just as Aksa predicted, the sound gradually slowed, then ceased altogether.

I turned back toward the hill, watching as the knights came to a complete halt. They stood like statues, their armored forms unmoving, save for the flags and banners swaying in the gentle wind.

"(Unbelievable.)"

Makina remained quiet, perhaps recalibrating her logic against this unexpected outcome. I, on the other hand, couldn't help but admire the sight.

X>Awesome, how knightly they are, indeed they are knights without a doubt

X>Honor and Chivalry, ahh, How come such wonderful things exist in this world

X>Incorrect, they did not exist here in this world, that in another world, just to correct, our world have no longer such thing

X>Lamenting Agreeing etc

"Guess you are right this time, Goddess"

•I usually am, mortal. Now, stop worrying about traps and trenches. Focus on what matters. The night is yours to prepare. Use it wisely.•

"I see understood, although for some reason, I felt I am missing something?, for now I dismiss it as we need to prepare"

X>Goddess Aksa, so cool

X>Goddess Aksa, Your awesome

X>Hooray for Goddess Aksa, Horray

As the goddess, smile with praises, I and Makina continued to do preparation for tomorrow battle

As the sun continued its slow descent into the horizon, I stood atop the wall, staring down at the unmoving knights below. For now, the battlefield was quiet, but the tension lingered like an unspoken promise.

Tomorrow, everything would change.

As I thought of this, I think

"(Wait, now I think of it, isn't this the trial given by the goddess in her labyrinth, so then that demeanor earlier is...)"

As I look at the goddess, she flinch and whistles with cold sweats

"...."

"(I suppose I should expect this, this time, it's my fault for my stupidity, at such I will not further pursue this)"

With that, the Goddess reliefly sigh.
