The words hung in the air for only a moment before they were drowned out by the deafening roar of the Gustav gun as it unleashed its first round into the world of Mystica.

I turned my gaze toward the knights, anticipating the aftermath of where the shell had struck. The advancing cavalry had continued their charge, seemingly undeterred by the rail gun's ferocious blast.

And then the shell landed.

([BOOM!])

An explosion painted the battlefield with red and orange flames, the fiery display consuming everything in its radius. Billowing black smoke rose into the air, blotting out the sun's rays in that area. For a moment, the knights were obscured from view.

X>Well, that's cruel, but isn't this exactly what our world—Earth—is like?

X>Power always triumphs. It's been proven in countless wars. The phrase "the ends don't justify the means" only comes from the mouths of the victors, never the defeated.

As the chat window buzzed with divided opinions, something began to stir within the smoke.

Out of the black haze emerged a figure, stark and defiant. A pure white horse galloped forward, its polished armor shimmering like a beacon. On its back, the knight sat upright, unscathed and unwavering, their lance pointed toward us with an air of indomitable will.

The sight was surreal. The knight charged through the battlefield as though untouched by the earlier devastation.

I stared at the advancing knight, dumbfounded. My mind raced for an explanation, while the chat's momentum clearly shifted in favor of the Mystician forces.

Makina's voice broke through my thoughts, her calm tone contrasting the chaos of the scene.

I muttered, watching as more knights began emerging from the smoke. As more knight emerge from the smoke, the more buzz that cause at the chat panel

At Makina's response, the rail gun began to crank, and the magic-like circuits started glowing as before—except this time, there was no ammo loaded.

At the end of the rail gun's muzzle, a magic formula appeared. It resembled a magic circle, but it had the aesthetic of something from our world—I could see coding and programming written within it.

I remembered that Makina had also inquired about the magic of this world from the goddess. Following her lead, I studied magic too.

Based on my understanding—at least, the conclusion I arrived at—it seems that magic circles are the real deal in this world. Within the magic circle are characters that define what kind of manifestation is desired.

I asked the goddess about the logic behind this, and she explained that the primary reason lies in the gods themselves. The gods allow it to happen.

In short, magic works because the gods will it so. The design of the magic frame doesn't really matter, because as long as the gods approve, the magic takes effect.

With that explanation, I stopped asking questions about the human art of magic and instead focused on how gods use their mana. The goddess then taught me.

Setting that aside, what I'm trying to say is that the frame doesn't really matter—whether it's a magic circle, rune, or words—as long as the gods permit it, it works.

And so, Makina applied this understanding and created something new—what she calls "magic engineering."

In simple terms, Makina pioneered her own magic, referencing the magic of this world and the way gods use theirs. She then combined this knowledge with her logic and efficiency-driven methods, resulting in something akin to scientific magic—or Magic Science.

Now, let me explain this in brief. You know how fire works, right? There's a concept called the fire triangle, which describes the three elements needed to create fire: fuel, heat, and oxygen.

Imagine using magic to generate two of these elements—leaving only the oxygen to be gathered from the surroundings.

You might think I'm straying off-topic, but here's the reason I'm explaining this:

I could feel the wind gathering at the magic circle—or formula, or whatever Makina calls it. Makina doesn't care what to call it in the first place; it doesn't matter if it's recorded as a bunch of zeros and ones, as long as she can use it.

Assuming the wind gathering at the formation contains oxygen, and recalling what happens next...

"Oh, shit! I thought it would just be a small-scale effect, but there's no way this is small-scale!"

Using shapeshift, I dug into the earth to create a trench and immediately jumped into it.

I solidified the trench further, turning it into a makeshift bunker. No need to explain what happened next.

([Booooommmmmm]) (Explosion)

The immense vibrations rippled in all directions, shaking me. The deafening sound that followed made it clear what had just occurred above the surface.
