Chapter 50: Gaining New Skills

A couple of weeks passed since I named Ultima, and she has settled quite well in the floating castle.

I also think that making her new vessel out of my shadows didn't only change her appearance but her behavior slightly. I don't think just being named by me would make her act like she has over the days.

When some random guy calling himself a Hero came here and tried to challenge me, her anger exploded, and she made sure to kill him in the most painful way.

Well, maybe giving her a body and naming her would have that effect.

She had met all of my shadow generals and Beru, who she had fought a few times. Of course, she won all of them, but Beru has improved with every fight.

Speaking of fights. After my small fight with Veldora, I had one of my shadows check out if he survived Velzard's wrath, and thankfully, he did but is slightly traumatized.

Ehh... He should be fine in a couple of days... or months... or years.

I could try to check up on him later, but I have something to do for now.

Making my way towards one of the training areas on the castle's sub-islands, I saw Ultima already waiting for me.

"My lord, what do you want me to do?" She asked. I called her with the help of Thought Communication but didn't explain why.

"I want your help to acquire a specific skill." I replied, using Material Creation to make a blindfold for myself, "You will be attacking me while I'm blindfolded."

"My lord, are you sure about that?" She asked.

I sighed, "Yeah, you don't have to worry. I can regenerate, so a few injuries won't do anything to me, and I told you to stop calling me my lord and call my Ashborn."

"Then I won't disappoint you, my lor... Ashb... Lord Ashborn."

"You can drop the Lord part..." I sighed and put on the blindfold.

I have avoided getting this skill before in case something goes wrong. My vessel has improved a lot, and now after becoming a True Demon Lord, I'm sure I can think with my spiritual body, so using this skill won't be a problem.

Magic Sense, or as it's also called Magic Perception. It allows the user to perceive the surrounding magicules to see 360 degrees around them without leaving a blind spot.

By observing the fluctuation of light and sound waves, they can be processed and converted into perceptible data, allowing the user to see and hear their surroundings. With this, one can see in complete darkness as if it were bright as day and can continue fighting even if their eyes and ears were to be crushed.

It also allows the user to understand and express the intent of spoken words by deciphering sound waves that have willful meaning stored inside them, even if the language of their conversation partner is unknown to them.

The only downside is that it can cause a normal Human brain to fry due to the never-ending flow of data overloading it. It probably wouldn't have a big effect on me since my stats surpassed the double digits, but sometimes it's better to be safe.

Taking a deep breath, I focused, "You can attack me however you want but try to keep the destruction to a minimum."

I couldn't see anything, but due to having highly enhanced senses, I could feel my surroundings and predict her movements.

But I won't get the skill only using that. I need to feel the magicules in the air. Feel how they are moving and everything they graze.

I started dodging her attacks and tried to sense more of the magicules, and slowly I began to see while being blindfolded.

It started with a few outlines. It was like small gusts of what looked like wind hit different objects, and I could see them to the most minor details. It was like the tiny cracks forming on the platform to Ultima's footsteps moving the magicules.

As time went on, I started to see more details, and the best way I could describe it would be that everything looked like a highly detailed manga panel.

More time passed, but I lost track of time, so I couldn't tell if it was just an hour or multiple, but everything paid off as I heard the Voice of The World in my head.

{Extra Skill: [Magic Sense]... has been successfully acquired.}

I could activate the skill and stop now, but I want to push it further to the next stage.

As time went on, I continued dodging Ultima's attacks, and my range started expanding. But that wasn't the only change that happened. I started to perceive not only light and sound but also smell and heat.

I could smell the tea Seris was brewing. I could feel the heat from the magical projects Mio was working on, and I could see Ari and Luna training their troops on another sub-island.

{Extra Skill: [Magic Sense] has evolved into Extra Skill: [Universal Sense]}

I fully activated Universal Sense, and like a wave of wind, it spread from me, coloring the black-and-white world.

I grinned as I stopped Ultima's attack by grabbing her wrist, but she used that moment to swipe my feet making me fall backward and take her with me.

We both fell on the stone floor, but we didn't feel anything due to our stronger bodies and resistance besides something soft.

Hmm...

"L-Lord A-Ashborn, if you want to touch me, you should do it in private, not here in the open," Ultima said with a slight blush on her face.

"Huh?" I looked at what I was touching... I deadpanned, "No, I just fell and didn't know where my hand was..."

"Aww..." She sounded disappointed.
