Chapter Seven

My body aches from the fight last night, and hopefully Chetan feels just as shity otherwise, I really did get my ass kicked. By the way, Chetan walks up limping. I know he feels the same way.

"The girls and I are going on a walk."

"Zare stays here."

"Fuck you Ajay."

"I'm really not dealing with this today, what is the reason for having her stay back? You know damn well Chetan would protect her." Dev says.

"Just exercising my power."

Chetan rolls his eyes.

"Ajay," I see Dev's eyes upon me.

"Fine " I bite my lip in annoyance.

I watch the three of them walk out of sight.

"Dude last night, for real?"

I shrug my shoulders. "He wants a fight, I'm going to give him one."

"My best advice to you would be to stay away from his mate."

"Dev, he is with Kiara."

"And I believe he's trying to figure out what to do with it. He told me everything last night. He doesn't want to hurt her, but he is having problems even having sex with her. Every time he looks at her, he wishes it was Zare."

I nod. "Well, he has decisions to make."

"And if he chooses her, you will just back off."

"If he's 100% committed to her, and even then I don't know."

Dev takes a deep breath. "It's not worth fighting over, he's not just going to let you have her."

"Well, I never back down from a fight."

"Then maybe you should send her packing, let the girl pack take care of her."

"Or I run away with her."

Dev eyes me for a moment. "Stop talking crazy, Alpha."

I see the others returning. Chetan walks in the middle, holding neither girl's hand. I feel bad for Kiara, because she looks upset.

"Why are you so protective over Zare?"

"The tree, I know Zare's the key to something."

"Yeah, Chetan and you beating the hell out of each other."

"Sadly, seeing if you took his side."

"I am just stuck in the middle. I am very good friends with both of you, so don't put me in that situation." He looks hurt just speaking the words.

I nod.

Getting up from my spot, I leave the rest of the pack talking. I feel so torn. Maybe there's truth in Dev's words. I know one thing is certain: he has definitely taken Chetan's side, and that's totally fine.

Night hits and I lay down. Trying to get some sleep, but my brain is too busy. Too crazy with thoughts.

The tree's words constantly eat at my mind. If the pack falls because of Zare, that's ultimately my fault. I have ignored his words, because now I love her. But I know I will need to be extra cautious and always know about her whereabouts. I will keep Zare on a short lease. Also because I feel protective of her.
