I'm Not the Only One?!

"NO! You may not!"

Ayse's immediate answer silenced the riled-up old man, "You will do the job you agreed to. That is all."

"Yes, yes, I understand, Mr. Silver Crown!" the doctor nervously guffawed. He resumed his work on the reptilian teen while avoiding eye contact with Ayse.

But Ayse remarked, "By the way, I know what deep tissue and skeletal scanners look like. Just warning you."

The doctor's eyebrows instantly furrowed in disappointment. "Fine! I will only heal the boy. At least I'll get epidermal scans and a live example of how durable Foraadian skin can be."

"Don't forget, he's only half-Foraadian. If he was the real deal, we wouldn't fit in your truck," Ayse stated.

Again, the doctor looked up, stunned by that detail. "I have heard of their phenomenal size and physical resilience. But how can they be that large? They are not giants, are they?"
