Hoping for Trouble

When the group stepped up to the glass elevator, the closed doors were perfectly flush with the glass tube. Only a touch of thin metal lined the sides of the elevator doors. From straight on, it was easy to miss the glass seams completely.

Beside the elevator door was a small screen barely the size of an open hand.

Ayse stepped forward with a head bow to his employer. "Allow me, Boss Aegri."

His silver key card was pressed against the panel, which prompted a follow-up screen. An array of decks were presented for selection. Decks one through five were greyed out and unavailable. Deck 35 was highlighted and eye-catching. But Ayse pressed Deck 45 without any further considerations.

But nothing happened. No sounds were made and nothing changed inside the glass tube.
