An Angel before a Devil

An Angel before a Devil

With a little time to kill and two children curious about their parents, Zail once again took them into his memories, the beautiful memories of his friends.

"Unlike you demons, we were once kids, a childhood where only heaven existed.

<140 years Before Doritis (B.D)>

{Karyoz district, Heaven}

An extremely handsome and y man chased me through the street. He, in pure white clothes and I, in dark elegant black robes. I had stolen the last piece of his favourite bread, so with half a bite in my mouth and the rest in my hand, I ran on the streets, surfing through the angelic crowd.

I remember it as if it was yesterday. It was a bright, sunny and a beautifully colourful day. Neither of the two of us had even thought how that playful chase, not only make their day better, but also the many years that would come later.

Your father, Zor Ra, was the child of Dole Ra. Dole Ra was the leader of the Ra clan, the clan of the royal blacksmiths.

It was a time before wars were fought. The only reason why someone would pick up a weapon was to either hunt or for sport. It was an era of peace, an era where nothing but heaven existed, an era of the Gods.

The warm colourful streets filled with the citizens of Heaven, the thrill of being chased, Zor ended up running into a young girl, at least two inches taller than the both of us. The moment I looked back to check up on Zor, I saw her, Lilith, your mother and the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

It was clear from Zor's face how mesmerised he was with Lilith. He always claimed that moment to be the time when he fell in love. That was the first time they met. On the other hand, I stood far away and could not see her face. But the descriptive words from the boy in love were enough for me to understand how magnificent her beauty was.

Zor had become so infatuated with her, he stalked her, followed her and found as much as he could. About two weeks later Zor came to me asking for my help.

'Please Michael you have to, I beg of you.'

'Most definitely not! Do you even understand what you are asking for?' His request was utterly ridiculous in my eyes. 'Why don't you talk to her yourself?' And that is when I came to know who Lilith was and more importantly where she was from. I could not believe Zor when he told me that she was the first daughter of Herzies, the king of the Gods, the strongest being in all of heaven.

It was then that I understood why Zor had come to me. My father Karna was a great warrior second only to the King, Herzies. And with that reputation, he was a part of the King's council and occasionally attended meetings conducted in the Chamber of Gods which would often further lead to formal gatherings and that was exactly where we had planned for me to meet your mother and to ask her to come with me to the Phiscal Gardens where Zor would be waiting.

It was a calm starry evening, a pleasant cool breeze blowing, dressed and ready I walked through the banquet doors. Gates were twice the size of the ones in hell to accommodate Gods of all sizes. This was before the existence of the mortal plane, every mortal soul lived in heaven as labour or servants or worse, they would be our slaves. So understandably everything inside the banquet and for the gathering was managed by the mortals.

I stood next to my father who had no issue mingling with anyone, anytime. The shy me stood there nervously for half an hour, staying on the lookout for the arrival of your mother. My thirst could no longer be subsided and adjuring to be quenched. I walked up to the bar for a glass of water or better, a glass of wine.

Within a few seconds and a shove from a massive, jerk of an angel, the entire glass of pure red deliciousness has drenched my robes. And in that moment, I felt a tap on my shoulder, a tap of a very kind angel.

'Are you okay?' She asked in a gentle soothing voice.

A few seconds after I was done wiping the red stains dry, she introduced herself. 'Hi, I am Lilith' I was dumbfounded, the prettiest woman I had seen before her was my mother and she did not come close to Lilith. 'Michaeal' I stuttered my name reaching her hand that she had extended for a greeting.

'Nice to meet you, Michael.' With a chuckle she, started to walk away.

It may have been her smile that eased my mind or simply how approachable she felt enabled me to finally do what was originally planned. 'Lilith, would you come with me to the Phiscal Gardens?'

Her smile was replaced with a sorry face. 'Oh! Michael, my father will not let me leave without an attendant and a valid reason.' Our plan had failed before it even began.

I had no faith in meeting her anytime soon, but not Zor, he had incredible determination in his eyes. He walked off without a plan towards Lilith's mansion on the edge of Noah district, the northernmost district of heaven.

In the middle of the night, the two of us stood in front of the massive golden gate that shined even in the dim light of the night. We somehow managed to climb over the high wall and headed towards the ground-plus-two building she called home.

For two young men from a relatively closed family, snooping around a stranger's house was more than exhilarating. The closer to the building they got the faster our hearts beat.

'Umm, please tell me you know which one of these is hers.' I asked him looking at the multiple long rows of windows that we stood beneath. To my disappointment Zor knew nothing about the mansion, he was just as if not more clueless about the place as I was.

'There, she must be in there.' Zor pointed towards the window on the second floor, right in the middle. His surety made me extremely uncomfortable. And before I could complain about climbing into a random window, Zor was halfway to the window.

Five minutes of climbing and I had never regretted being right as much as I did then. Hoping for the midnight beauty, we landed on the bed of a huge ugly ogre of a man. One look around and I knew where we were and so did Zor. We were in the cook's room. Possibly the most disgusting-looking cook. He was at least ten feet tall. Snoring as if a mountain grumbling. Slowly and steadily, we made our way out of the stinking hellhole. And it says a lot coming from me.

Just out of that door, now, we did not expect anything of the place. But the world beyond the door was magnificent. It was so bright, colourful and shiny that one would have a hard time telling night from day.

Long, carpeted hallways and massive staircases. Silent as it gets and that is exactly why the footsteps were the equivalent of cannons firing amidst of battle. Without another thought the two of us rushed up the stairs and sneaked into the closest room as quietly as possible.

In the darkness of that room, we crept, keeping a watch for anyone approaching. 'Who are you?' the jump scare came at the worst time possible. Turning back, it was the lady we were looking for. Stunning in her off-white nightgown."

"You were in love with her too, weren't you?" The sisters interrupted Zail almost in unison.

Unknowingly, the demon sisters had lost the last chance to hear more about their parents, for it would be the last time they were going to get to rest like they were now.
