Lucien sat in his throne room, pondering Erebus's proposition. It was a tempting offer, to be sure, but Lucien was not one to trust easily. He knew that vampires were notorious for their deceptions and betrayals, and he had learned the hard way to keep his guard up at all times.
As he sat there, lost in thought, a servant entered the room, bowing low before him.
"Master," said the servant. "There is a visitor here to see you."
Lucien raised an eyebrow. Visitors were rare in his fortress, especially since the recent battles had made it clear that he was not to be trifled with.
"Who is it?" he asked.
The servant hesitated, then spoke in a low voice.
"It is a member of the clan you defeated in the last battle, master," said the servant. "He wishes to speak with you."
Lucien's hand tightened on the armrest of his throne. He knew that the clan was a dangerous enemy, and he had no intention of letting his guard down around them.
"Bring him in," he said, his voice cold.
A few moments later, the servant returned with the visitor. It was a tall, lean vampire with piercing blue eyes and a face that bore the scars of many battles. He bowed before Lucien, then stood up straight and met his gaze.
"Greetings, Lucien," he said. "I am Razeel, a member of the clan you defeated in the last battle."
Lucien nodded, his eyes never leaving Razeel's face.
"What do you want?" he asked.
Razeel smiled, a cold and humorless expression.
"I have come to make you an offer," he said. "A proposition that I think you will find...interesting."
Lucien felt a chill run down his spine. He knew that this was a trap, that Razeel was likely here to assassinate him or gather information for a future attack.
"I'm listening," he said, his voice steady.
Razeel leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"I have information about Erebus," he said. "Information that could change everything."
Lucien's eyes narrowed. Erebus had been on his mind ever since he made his offer, and the thought of gaining an advantage over him was tempting indeed.
"What kind of information?" he asked.
Razeel smiled again, a predator's grin.
"Come with me, and I'll show you," he said.
Lucien hesitated. He knew that this was a risk, that Razeel could easily be leading him into a trap. But the thought of gaining an edge over Erebus was too tempting to resist.
"Lead the way," he said.
Razeel turned and walked out of the room, with Lucien following closely behind him. As they walked, Lucien couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that this was a dangerous game, and that one misstep could lead to his downfall.
At last, they arrived at a secluded corner of the fortress. Razeel turned to face Lucien, his eyes gleaming with malice.
"Here," he said, holding out a piece of parchment. "Read this."
Lucien took the parchment and began to read. As he did, his eyes widened in shock and horror.
The parchment contained detailed information about Erebus's plans, including a list of his allies and the location of his secret hideout.
Lucien felt a surge of excitement and fear. With this information, he could finally gain the upper hand over Erebus and cement his place as the most powerful vampire in the land. But he also knew that if Erebus
found out about this, he would stop at nothing to eliminate Lucien and anyone who dared to cross him.
"Where did you get this?" asked Lucien, his voice barely above a whisper.
Razeel smirked.
"Let's just say that I have my sources," he said. "Sources that are willing to provide me with information for a price."
Lucien's mind raced as he considered his options. He could use this information to his advantage, but at what cost? Was it worth risking everything, including his own life, to gain the upper hand over Erebus?
Just then, a sharp pain shot through his neck. He felt his strength draining away, his vision blurring as he struggled to stay conscious.
Razeel had stabbed him with a poisoned dagger.
Lucien fell to the ground, gasping for air as Razeel looked down at him with a triumphant smirk.
"Enjoy your victory while you can," he said. "Because it won't last long."
With that, he disappeared into the shadows, leaving Lucien to face his fate alone.
As he lay there, struggling to stay alive, Lucien knew that he had made a fatal mistake. He had let his guard down, and now he was paying the price.
But even as his strength faded, he vowed to himself that he would not go down without a fight. He would find a way to survive, to overcome this betrayal and emerge stronger than ever before.
For Lucien knew that in the world of vampires, only the strongest and most cunning would survive. And he was determined to be the one who emerged victorious.
