I want your shares

The tension still hung in the air as people filtered out of the boardroom, quiet murmurs filling the space.

Liu Yanmei sat frozen in her seat, fingers clenched into the armrests of her chair.

She had barely moved since the final announcement, her carefully composed demeanor cracking ever so slightly at the edges.

Chen Lin was the last to leave.

She paused just before stepping through the doorway, then turned back, her lips curling into a slow, knowing smirk.

Chen Lin tilted her head slightly, a small smirk playing on her lips.

"You must be getting tired of living in my shadow by now," she mused, her tone almost conversational. "All that scheming, all that effort... and in the end, you still couldn't get what you wanted."

Liu Yanmei's eyes snapped up, burning with fury. "I still have the shares. That gives me power."
