A New Life

The suns was rising the the shops opened. The bakeries started baking, the farmers walked out the gates to work. The guards who stayed up so late finally got some rest as their comrades took their place. This is where my life as Volt began as I walked passed the gate into the kingdom of Wolves. The sky was a bright blue and the smells coming from the shops were of fresh baked breads and sweets. People hurried by getting order done as I made my way to a place to drink.

I had just faked another death as the captain of the ship Kings-bow. I loved that life but I couldn't age and as such because iI had worked there for sixteen years I had to leave. I could change my appearance sure but that took years to do. I had deep black hair that was short now. I wore a black cloak with no hood and some basic leather and cobbled shoes.

I entered into the tavern into a city I haven't been too in a hundred years. A dear friend of mine established it three hundred years ago. Today I came to the place he loved most and that was his kingdom. I sat down in the middle of the large wooden room with windows allowing a beam of sunlight in. The place had a good atmosphere about it.

"Hey miss, can I order some milk and bread." I asked a pretty waitress as she was walking by.

"Of course I will be right back." She said as she went to get my order set up.

"Here's your order sir. Hope you enjoy." She said happily as she went back to work.

I drank the milk and ate the bread on my way out making my way to the castle grounds. The castle was on a high hill with the town going up along to its walls. The people here seemed happy. To think that under their feet are the cities of the old world. As I approached the gate I saw four guards neaxt to it with more in the towers above.

"I request entrance to enter." I say when they look at me.

"Sorry kid but this place is only for royals and the army." They say.

"Sorry but a dear friend of mine died here some years ago and I'm here to mourn him." I say.

They look at me like I'm crazy. They start to mutter to themselves before turning around to me.

"Sorry for your lose but today is the trial for the knights in training." He says as I clearly see there is no way their letting me in.

"Will you please fetch the royal knight on duty." I say.

One of them turns to go but not very quickly. He returns twenty minutes later with what I presume is the royal knight.

"Listen this better be important kid. All the royal knights are judging those in training." The royal knight says.

"The king that sleeps to not be awakened leaves the keys to his friends." I say knowing the saying of the first king to establish the kingdom.

"Let him in now, I will personally escort him." They look at the royal knight but immediately start to move to let me in.

"How do you know the saying of our first lord." He says as we're walking along a gravel path.

"I had a friend who died here and we were good friends." I say with grief.

"I understand. Would you like to watch the combatants before you go to his grave." He says.

"Let's see who deserves the title of royal knight then." I say we near the arena.

Below in the arena is the green gras that cover the dirt beneath. One statue of a angel stands engraved on the wall in the middle ahead. That angel holds so much more than they know. Twenty knights in training awaited for the person who was escorting me. When I sat down next to the railing they looked at me but were drawn back to attention by their leader.

After a few minutes of explaining they started the duels. I watched as they were all only at most level twenty. There is no way to know ones level and the stats. They worked hard to get here as only four remained. They seemed to be taking a break so I did what I like to do now. I did the dumbest thing ever without a care in the world. I got up and jumped over the railing landing three feet down onto the grass.

"Hey dude you can't be down here." You of the knights said as I ignored him.

I walked over to the angel and placed my hand on it hand. The knights made their way over yelling at me but I started to speak.

"Angels fall out of favor like we all do." I say the password and the angel starts move a little.

"What's going on here." One of the knights yelled.

The angels hand opened and gave me a key as it took back to its form against the wall.

"What did you just do." The knight beside me says.

"I got something I left behind" I say as I walk back up the steps.

I walked out of the arena towards the main castle. I walked off to the right and entered by jumping over a gate into the garden. I followed the gravel path as it twisted around the tall well kept flowers and trees. I came to the side of the palace that had the door to come out here and sat on a bench looking at a statue. The statue was a knight on one knee holding his sword on the ground. It had a small red jewel in the hilt but was unable to be taken unless you broke the entire thing.

"Who are you." I hear the sound of a girl behind me sweetly.

I turn around to see a beautiful girl in a red and white dress as she walks over.

"I'm an old friend of this kingdom." I say.

"Old. You look barley twenty." She says looking at me as she seats next to me.

"So your a noble here on business or a merchant." She asks.

"I have been many things but I will not say much." I try to move over but she closes the gap.

"So then why are you here if your not a noble." She says.

"Darling, I am a king not some random noble, my kingdoms lay for away from here."I said knowing I was not lying.

"That quit a joke. If your a noble then where your guards and why did we not know of your arrival.l "she asked.

"I don't need guards and this is a place I have called home longer than this kingdom has existed" who cares if I say how old I It not like they believe me.

"Your funny you know."She says as she laughs a little.

I get up as I hear a guard coming. I walk over to the the statue placing my hand onto the swords removing some of the dust.

"What is your name miss." I say as I hear the guard behind me.

"She miss Olivine and you have no right here kid." He says cutting off Olivine and drawing a sword.

"Please sir I'm here to only get my friends sword and be on my way now." I say as he moves forward while I'm not facing him.

"Dear friend I here to save what you built." I say as I grab the hilt of the sword.

"Take your hand off." The guard says.

"Blood for blood, land for land, the king brings peace for all who look to light." I say slowly.

The swords stone crumbles revealing a shiny silver blade with a red gem in the handle. I bring my arm up turning around placing one hand behind my back with my other in front wielding the sword.

"What, What is this." He says stuttering through the words.

"This is my land as for you are my subject. Shall we spar dear sir." I say as Olivine looks astonished.

The many come at me but I easily block with the sword.

"This is fun and all but I really don't care for sword much." I say gesturing my bow on my back.

"Will for a kid your pretty good." He says as I block all his attacks.

"I would hope considering I was trained by the best." I say increasing my attack forward.

I twist my sword around his while I spins bring his sword out of his hand.

"Good duke dear sir but you should know better than to attack a king" I say while I remove my cloak.

I am wearing a black uniform with five medals on it. Each of them is a shiny black while my uniform is that a king should wear.

"That, that's the uniform for the king of Demons." The guards say while backing away against the statue.

"Olivine are you really just going to watch me kill a gaurs or act like a princess and do something." I say smiling.

"Well I don't think you would kill him so no." She says bluntly.

"Your right. I might wear this but it's been to long." I say sheathing the sword.

"Thanks for going easy on me, but I'm afraid that I have much business to attend to with the king." I say knowing the war is coming soon.

"Why again. It's always like this. Just let the dream end."
