Are you disappointed?

"Well..." Leng Rui looked at Li Jie who couldn't hide his displeasure. This gave Leng Rui a rush of adrenaline but outwardly he looked hesitant to speak. "Mrs Li, I met the young master Li in the XC bar."

Hearing Leng Rui's answer was as if lightning had crashed in the Li manner. At the moment Leng Rui conveniently made his presence small to look at the drama from the side lines.

Jian Tang didn't want to be mad at her son in front of an outsider but the disappointment in her eyes said it all. Li Jie tried to grab her sleeve but his hand was slapped away. It finally drew to him that he made a mistake. A mistake he could never make up for. When Li Jie was living his life as Celyn his sexuality was never an issue as an orphan, nor he felt it was an issue to be discussed but looking at mother Jian Tang's disappointment his confidence was crushed.

Li Feng saw the dark atmosphere and decided to send back Leng Rui first rather than discussing their family matters in front of the outsider and servants present. But was stopped by Leng Rui.

"Ceo Li, you are forgetting the fact that young master Li isn't 'just' your son. He is the future fiance of my sister." Leng Rui's voice was cold at the moment. But listening to those words Li Jie tightened his fist.

"Pa-rents….I have something to admit…" Li Jie had already made up his mind even if it meant he would lose Jian Tang's love for him. He wouldn't hide it from them. "I am gay."

Jian Tang sighed but her anger turned up once again as she slapped Li Jie's shoulder with her full might. At this moment she didn't give any face to Leng Rui or Li Feng. "You fool, who cares if you are gay? You went drinking? Do you take me as a fool? If you dare to touch even a drop of alcohol in future…I will break your legs. And your father will send you abroad." No one in the villa had seen this side of the elegant ex-movie queen. She pinched Li Jie's ear telling him to go back to his room cause he was grounded.

But his expression left her stunned. Contradictory to the coldness or aloofness Li Jie had shown in the past few days. He currently had a longing expression with his eyelashes wet as if tears would roll down any minute.

"You aren't disappointed."

Jian Tang was taken aback by the sentence. She once worked in show biz. How many closted actors has she seen? Did her son think she would care? She gave a quick but angry glance at her husband. But Li Feng only raised his hands shaking his head in 'No' as if telling her he was innocent in this matter.

Jian Tang spoke after a pause as if searching for the appropriate words. "I am not disappointed in you for that. I don't care as long as the person you date is a good person. Now go back to your room."

She looked at her son thinking if what she said was too harsh but only to find Li Jie crying, biting his lips trying not to make a sound. Jian Tang quickly embraced her son who was a few inches taller than her. She comforted him before sending him upstairs.

Now with Li Jie out of the picture the Li couple finally looked at their target 'Leng Rui'. Unlike their not so tactful son, Jian Tang and Li Feng were old foxes. From the moment Leng Rui set foot in the house with Li Jie they knew he was up to something.

The engagement he talked about was just a spoken promise between old madam Li and old madam Leng. But the current generation of head's Li Feng and Leng Rui both saw the engagement as a trouble but they never spoke about breaking it. As the first person to break the promise was liable for compensation. So Mr and Mrs Li were aware Leng Rui was going to use this excuse to break the engagement. But now both of them didn't mind it in front of their son's future.

"Mr Leng…" It was Jian Tang's gentle voice. "I think you are right. I don't want my son or your sister to be burdened by a promise made by the elders. It's better if we break it."

Jian Tang hadn't stopped talking as Li Feng backed her up. "The Li family will compensate Miss Leng to the best of our ability. Do you have any more conditions Mr Leng?"

Jian Tang and Li Feng stared at Leng Rui for answers but even under their pressure Leng Rui who was a generation younger than them was calm. A smile formed on his lips. "Well, why don't we talk while sitting down?"

Jian Tang froze for a moment afterwards the butler and her sat the guest down. Li Feng sat with Jian Tang as Leng Rui sat opposite to them. This gave Li Feng a bad feeling for some reason.

Leng Rui quickly started talking as Ryan brought some tea and snacks.

"In fact I don't mind the engagement. We can still keep the engagement and just change the candidate." Leng Rui looked at Li Feng as if he was showcasing his great idea, making him sigh. It was well known to everyone that Li Feng was an only child to his parents. Even his son was an only child. And their Li family didn't even have branch families.

"Mr Leng, for your information we don't have anyone of the appropriate age for Miss Leng in our family. It's best if we just break the engagement." Li Feng spoke with all the patients he had as all these years people have spectaculted he had mistresses outside. While he had been anything but loyal to Jian Tang since the day he saw her. So Leng Rui just poked his wound.

"I am talking about replacing my sister with me, Mr Li. In fact, since young master Li had said he likes the same gender. I don't think there is a better candidate." Leng Rui smiled but the air in the room got heavy. As both Jian Tang and Li Feng looked visibly pissed.

This time Jian Tang spoke but her voice was cold. "Mr Leng you might not think of this as a problem but my son is 18 years old. He is a child, if I am not wrong you will be turning 25 this winter. Don't you feel this is inappropriate?" The fury in her eyes was clear but according to Li Feng it only made his wife shine more. Ever since she set foot in the social circle he had only seen her tackle every situation calmly with a smile. But seeing her angry also had its charm.

Just as Li Feng was admiring her beauty Jian Tang hit him with the corner of her elbow telling him to be serious. Li Feng tried his best to not make a sound as his eyes closed in pain.

Leng Rui chuckled at their interaction. "Mrs Li you and Mr Li have an age gap of almost 10 years if i am not wrong. Aren't you just doing fine?"

Hearing the sentence Jian Tang touched Li Feng hand who understood clearly. He stood up, his voice stern enough to scare anyone in front of him.

"Mr Leng, I don't think I will ever agree to your proposal. I have already told you Li family will compensate Miss Leng for the damage this promise has caused her. But I hope you won't bring up what you said ever again, not in front of me or my wife."

The smile still didn't disappear from Leng Rui's face as he also got up. As if ready to leave. "I get that Mr Li. And you really don't need to compensate my sister." As Leng Rui was talking he was cut off by Jian Tang.

"I think it's better for Miss Leng to decide it herself since it was her engagement. I won't be seeing you off Mr Leng." Jian Tang left the living room to give some instructions to the servants. Li Jie had spoken about his secret today in front of them. She didn't want anyone gossiping so she decided to take things in her own hands.

On the other side, Li Feng walked back to go upstairs after seeing Leng Rui off, only to see Jian Tang sighing just like him. Both of them were exhausted by ups and downs today.

"We should have gone on a date some other day." Jian Tang said the blaming intentions were clear in her voice.

"We can always go on a date anytime you want." Li Feng spoke in full seriousness. He was angry at his damn son who chose to come out of the closet today.

Jian Tang's step halted as she saw Li Jie wearing his pyjama and fiddling in front of their room. He looked pale as their eyes met hers. In truth Li Jie was more worried about what the three talked about in the living room as he kept on getting notification of increase in favorability of Leng Rui. It went from -8% to 10% in under 30 minutes.

"Are you still worried?" Jian Tang hugged her son and took him inside the room while Li Feng followed behind them with a black face. He really needed to send Li Jie abroad sooner.
