After yesterday's ruckus, Li Jie was shifted to another ward where people couldn't enter at will. Especially the ones like Mrs. Li. The silver-haired was looking outside through the window in a trance when the door behind him opened.
"I bought it." Bai Ye carried his laptop bag on his shoulder still wearing his doctor's uniform. Li Jie turned around and got out of bed and walked to Bai Ye to take the laptop. He had thought of things through yesterday. If he was alive there was a possibility of him finding Vic… in this parallel world.
Bai Ye smiled and sat on his violation despite getting a cold shoulder from Li Jie. In fact, at first, he didn't first believe Li Jie's mother telling him he went through a little personality change after waking up. But now it was clear. If Li Jie was cold to him before this was just straight-up ignoring him.
"Shouldn't you be thanking me? I brought you my laptop on such short notice." Bai Ye still asked with his cheeky attitude. Li Jie looked at him with a blank expression, his fingers freezing on the keyboard.
"Thank you. Aren't you leaving?"
Bai Ye,'s eyes grew larger and he had no words left at this point. But the youth had already ignored him and started tapping and scrolling leaving Bai Ye in a daze.
The doctor got up after a few minutes and closed the door on his way out showing he was upset. But Li Jie made no moves to stop Bai Ye. His light blue eyes were glued to the screen that showed the list of the legal and illegal orphanages in Country A. His fingers slid on the cursor narrowing down the list to a mere 10 suspecting places. But what clouded his mind was thoughts of Vic… never making it out of the orphanage in this life alive.

The door was opened by the unsuspecting doctor on his rounds. His eyes met with the youth who looked surprised by the sudden intrusion. Li Jie put the laptop aside when he finally realized his cheeks were damp with tears.
He peeked at the doctor, wiping his eyes ready for the test or questions coming his way but his mind was somewhere else.
The weather seemed to have reflected his mood as it rained heavily for days in city A for the first time in years. Even after Li Jie was discharged from the hospital it didn't show signs of stopping.
Jian Tang watched the warning about the weather on the television but in truth, all her focus was on Li Jie who sat in the corner with his newly bought laptop. In the past few days, her son's attitude had gonclothingnr to others no matter who the person was. She had talked with Li Feng but nothing came out of it.
Jian Tang didn't notice but she had stared at the youth for a long time making him uneasy.
"Mom, I am going out." Li Jie closed his laptop to examine her response. Jian Tang hesitated at first but complied with her only son's temper.
"Oh, when will you be back? Where are you going? Should I send the driver?" She followed behind Li Jie who gave vague answers to every question, making her anxious. But his last response made her heart enter another whirlwind.
"I am meeting Leng Rui and his lawyer for the prenup. It's best before a year of marriage."
Jian Tang looked frozen. She completely forgot about it. The personality change in Li Jie and his negative reactions to psychiatric treatment made her ignore Leng Rui. But she didn't know when the matter escalated to making a prenup.
"You are planning on getting married to Leng Rui." The movie queen thought twice for the first time in her life. But Li Jie, her son, seemed indifferent to her struggle.
"Depends."
The words finally crushed her, halting her steps that tried hard to keep up with him until now.
Li Jie entered his room, his cold exterior coming right off. He closed the door behind him, he hurt Jian Tang. The youth lingered in the room before getting ready for the appointment.
After getting out of the hospital and taking his leave from the military training this was the first time he was going out. And it was important especially since he finally found a trace. Out of the 10 illegal orphanages, 4 had transactions with the Leng family directly or indirectly. Not to mention Leng Rui had visited a few of them not long before.
Li Jie washed his face of the seriousness of the situation finally settling in. There was no trace of Vic… ever being in the orphanage. He couldn't even remember how Vic… looked, making his search harder. The only clue was the orphanages and Leng Rui.
(I know...I know the chapter feels more like a filler and it's short but I promise the next one to be a little better. And to be over 1500 words.)
