The Great War Part 2

A white light enveloped all of us, and the screen went black. Moments later we were on a wide and open area. I looked around and examined my surroundings; around me was an army that consisted of both players and NPCS; there were far too many to count, and when I looked ahead I noticed just how big and flat the area was. I can't measure it, but I'm pretty sure it could fit a few football fields in it. The time of day seemed to be dusk; I could see my surroundings and everything fine, it just wasn't very bright out. I tried moving, but there was a barrier holding me in place; I guess everyone was being held by a barrier since no one was moving around. Clamoring and talking could be heard before a loud voice spoke up.

"SILENCE!"

The noise quickly subsided, and everyone looked forward toward the voice. It was one of the great sages in the game, Sczarnia. What was he doing here? Is he projecting his voice with magic? He was standing in the middle of the battlefield, between the two armies.

"I won't partake in the fight between nations, but I have been asked to signal when to start the battle. I will use magic, and once it explodes, the fighting shall commence."

A blue light enveloped the great sage as he raised his staff directly upward. A small bright dot launched towards the sky, reaching higher and higher by the second.

"May the god of Arcadia have mercy on all of you and your pointless fighting."

The ball exploded, illuminating the entire battlefield with light. The light persisted, so I guess it'll last for either a little while or for the whole event. The barrier around me vanished, and the sage in between the two nations teleported away, leaving no trace behind.

"HOORAH!"

I don't know where it came from, but cinematic music started playing. It didn't drown out the sounds around us or anything, but there was definitely some kind of battle music playing somewhere.

As the army moved, I was pushed along with it, toward the enemy. Flaming catapults and volleys of arrows were launched from the back, but there were also some being shot at us as well. The arrows bounced off my armor without leaving a scratch, but it seemed like some of the lower leveled players were being injured by them. Alright, ill go destroy those catapults and stop the archers. I pushed my way to the front and started slashing my way through to the enemy's side. I decided to use a great sword for the battle, and I think that's probably the best weapon right now; I can hit people from a decent range, do good damage, and if I swing it horizontally, I can possibly take out multiple people at once.

*SLASH*

*SLASH*

*SLASH*

With each strike, at least two people were being killed and vanishing into particles.

"Go Forth Creatures!"

I looked toward the person saying that, and as I did two large bears rushed at me. They must be from a tamer. The bears were about twice my size and had light grey fur. These look like the bears you find from going deep in the woods. If these are the creatures I think they are, their fur should be as tough as iron. My sword should cut through them, but I should be extra careful since I don't know just how strong the tamer made them.

[Enhance Strength]

[Rapid Strike]

I temporarily buffed my strength and used rapid strike to swiftly cut them down. I then ran at the tamer that sent them after me.

"Wait, what? G- go for-"

I cut her with my weapon, reducing her to particles. I then continued to make my way through the enemy army cutting through anyone that was in the way.

*SLASH*

*SLASH*

"METEOR STRIKE!"

Wait, someone's using meteor strike? They must be a high-level player; I should be cautious moving forward. I looked up at the sky to see if I was being targeted, and sure enough, I was. I was being hit by some weak weapons, but I had to ignore them so I could properly counter this guy's skill. The man in the sky was flying toward me at a rapid pace, and unless I did something I would take massive damage. I readied my great sword to hit him with all my might when he came close enough, kind of like baseball.

Come on, a little closer. A bit closer, come on.

"FREEZE!"

Just as I was about to swing, my right arm was frozen from somewhere.

"Oh shi-"

The meteor strike collided with my head, and I almost fell to the ground. Luckily I caught myself and landed on my knee. The man had gauntlets equipped and continued to wail on me as I attempted to get up. He uppercut me, which brought me back to my feet, and I quickly hot-swapped my weapon, unequipping the sword and putting on my gauntlets. He went in to try and get another hit on me, but I countered him and landed a heavy attack. I had lost about 40% of my total health from that, I have to heal as soon as possible. I pulled out a potion to heal, but my arm was frozen again, canceling my healing. I looked over, and there was a mage focused purely on me.

[Shockwave]

I clashed my gauntlets together and used my skill which knocked the mage to the ground, but before I could rush toward them, they were pierced by a spear from someone else. While I was distracted by the mage, the man with the gauntlets and another person who seemed to be part of the thief class continued to attack me. I tried dodging both of them and attacking whenever I could, but I couldn't dodge all of their attacks.

[You Have Been Poisoned]

Does the thief have poisoned daggers? That's bad.

[Fury]

Fury should negate the poison for a bit and reduce the damage I take, so I'll try to focus more on attacking rather than avoiding them.

*BAM*

*BAM*

*BAM*

I knocked the thief to the ground, and did major damage to the man with the gauntlets. I began rushing to the thief since this was an amazing opportunity to take care of a decent opponent.

"AAAHHHHH"

I swung my gauntlet toward the thief, but before it hit, I was pierced from behind with a sword. I turned around and realized it wasn't even from someone strong, I simply forgot to heal, and this low leveled swordsman got the last hit.

[You Died]

*pant* "Why was that guy so strong?"

"I- I don't know. He must be a try-hard or have no life or something."

The guy with gauntlets came closer to the thief, it looked like he was going to help him up, but before he had a chance, a white light appeared from where Josh died and he reappeared with full health, but without his necklace. Josh quickly equipped another necklace and swapped out his gauntlets for two enchanted short swords.

"WHAT! HOW?"

Josh didn't answer, but instead swung at the man with the gauntlets. He backed up a bit, and Josh took this chance to finish off the thief before he could heal up or get off of the ground. One of the swords pierced him through the chest, killing him.

"Come on dude, that's not fair!"

The thief vanished into particles, and now there was just the gauntlet guy left. I rushed at him and used the distance the swords gave me to keep him just out of arm's length so he couldn't get a hit with his weapons. He eventually got impatient with just dodging my attacks and taking damage, so he rushed at me, but I used the momentum from the attack to duck down beneath him and stab him with both swords.

"That's cheating, I'm gonna report you for cheating."

He then vanished into particles as well.

I can't believe I wasted one of these necklaces just because I forgot to heal, that's such a rookie mistake to make.
