Chapter 91: Cannot Hold On

The people of the Northlands were amazingly efficient. Perhaps because they were no strangers to life and death situations, so when trouble came, their instinct to survive immediately kicked in.

Kongming already made arrangements and began the evacuation. Half of the residents went north and the other half headed south, so if things were to grow out of hand for either side, their people would not be wiped out. \n\n And a hundred people who knew water magic quickly assembled in front of Aji.

"Gentlemen, the molten lava is currently trapped between the mountains, and your lord has formed a snow wall to keep the eruptions from pouring down into the city. You are not as powerful as him, so you must act with care and not boldly venture in. Our goal is not to replace your lord's efforts, but to assist him in protecting the city."

"Yes sir!" Without further delay, Aji summoned the wind beneath her feet and took off. A hundred men followed closely behind. And the lone shadow before the snow wall could hear nothing but the wind next to his ears.

Maintaining such a large wall of snow against a constant downpour of molten lava, Changyi could not rest for even a moment. He channeled all of his demonic power into the wall and endured the pain of surging heat and increasing pressure. He closed his eyes in the midst of chaos and allowed his mind to walk into tranquility. Deep inside a frozen lake, next to someone sealed in ice.

Changyi knew his attempt to fight against the power of heaven and earth was foolish and would likely result in his demise. But somehow he found peace, as if deep down inside, he had been waiting for this day.

Boom! Another giant eruption exploded into the sky. Lava rained heavily onto the snow wall and water vapors in the air boiled against the skin. A few pieces of lava flew through the wall before it had time to recover, turning into rocks on contact. One grazed Changyi on the side of his face while another one struck him in the chest.

His flow of energy momentarily fell into disorder and the wall nearly collapsed, but Changyi forcefully suppressed the burning sensation inside his blood and struggled to hold on. Suddenly, he felt a cool breeze coming from behind. Ice blue eyes turned back and widened.

A hundred or so men had gathered and were now channeling mana into their hands. One by one, their power connected to the wall of snow, helping him support it. They all hovered in the air behind Changyi, doing their best to help him resist one of the most violent attacks from the lava.

Changyi shifted his eyes slightly, and saw a black-haired girl flying through the soldiers. She just finished giving instructions to the last man, and was now heading to the top of the wall to offer her own magic for support. Her face was three parts similar to Ji Yunhe, but her expression was identical.

"This sudden shift between extreme cold and extreme heat is really unbearable, and the smell stinks so bad..." She looked at Changyi with concern.

"The others went to help people evacuate, I can only call this many people here."

She called them...

Then the foot of the mountain trembled violently and lava rose to the sky again. The snow wall shook non-stop from the onslaught, and everyone felt the attack. One man was injured and fell from the air. Aji immediately moved her body and chased after him. But before she got close, the man was already caught by someone else -- Lu Jinyan.

"Your daddy is here!" he shouted with pride. Behind him, the snake demon flew up and smacked his tail against the back of Lu Jinyan's head.

"Oops, the tail slipped a little, sorry about that."

"You fucking did it on purpose! Just wait!" Aji looked at the two in surprise. Behind them came thousands of people.
