Runesmith

Edgar was paying close attention to the progress of royal guards in sweeping bandits. One day after they started the operation, he already heard the result. He ordered that news must be continuously sent so he could respond if something unexpected happened. Fortunately, the royal guards succeeded in their mission. The two teams that remained will return after destroying the remaining bandits. The hidden remnant forces of Duke George were destroyed.

He was planning to make the rescued women as teachers or members of the magic production corps if they have an aptitude for magic. He was hoping that they might find meaning in life again if he gives them a reason to live. He was also planning to use magicians for manufacturing or agriculture. He had an idea to use magic for appliances. Runesmith was too focused on equipments that was related for fighting and war in the Aurora world.

Scyte went back to the capital and met Edgar."Your highness, here is the information that we gathered."

Edgar took the papers and read them while Scyte was quietly sitting."The involvement of nobles is deeper than we thought, but I already have a candidate that I could use to give them a warning."

"Are you gonna let them go, your highness?"

"I have to because the kingdom must not have a civil war. Why do you think those nobles want power? Most of them are because of greed and fear. I will tie them with the kingdom's interest, so they can bathe in money and give them a sense of security."

"Is it related to your business, your highness?"

"Yes, it was just the first step. There will be many follow ups."

Scyte stood up and saluted to Edgar."Your highness, it's my honor serving under you."

Edgar smiled."My father is not dead yet. If you do that and reach his ears, he might become paranoid."

Scyte also smiled."Your highness, King Axel might feel more happy if more people in the royal court swear their allegiance to you."

Edgar stood up and patted Scyte's shoulder."Let us keep the security of the kingdom together."

After meeting with Scyte, he continued managing the kingdom's affairs, and in the afternoon, he did his training.

The next day, he went to the Runesmith department to try the possibility of his ideas. He was accompanied by Elena and his personal guards. He wanted to create a modern stove and a blender. The stove will be a lot more convenient for cooking, while the blender will create another business, the soymilk.

He ordered his guard to call for the chief.

Alsef, the Chief of Runesmith Department, invited Edgar and others to a room.

"Your highness, is there anything I can help you with?" Asked Alsef with curiosity. The prince had never visited their department before. Alsef heard that the prince was very bored in studying runesmith.

"I'd like you to try if my idea is possible. I want to set up a research team and I will personally fund it. Here are the magic equipments that I want the research team to make," said Edgar as he gave a blueprint of a stove and a blender.

Alsef was surprised. He took the blueprint and studied them with curiousity.

"They are cooking stove and blender. Unlike the stove that is currently being used, the stove in the blueprint will not require fire stones to produce and maintain fire. I want the stove to create a fire, activated and maintained using mana stone. The degree of heat should be adjustable. For the blender, the blade in the middle will rotate through a wind magic. Just like the stove, I want it to be activated and maintained using mana stone."

Alsef felt interested in the unique idea of the prince. He thought that the whimsical idea of the prince can give them new inspiration. He did not know how terrible the potential profit of appliances in the world was. He thought the drawings given to him by the prince were just toys.

"Your highness, I will form a research team, but I'm not sure when they can make it since it isn't their best field," said Alsef. He wanted to remind the prince because he was afraid that the prince would fuss if they were not made immediately.

"It doesn't matter as long as they do their job properly. Tell them that I will reward them with a lot of gold once they successfully made them," said Edgar. He believed that gold was a useful tool in increasing the enthusiasm of the research team.

"I thank you on their behalf, your highness!" Alsef slightly bowed. He did not expect the prince to be so generous. The reward was not necessary since they were just doing their job. The prince even used his personal funds, so their budget for research will not be affected.

The kingdoms and empires in aurora world do not know of a huge gold mine standing in front of their Runesmith department. He will create a brand of appliances in this world, and he will name it Flameworth Collection.

Edgar went to the Royal Library to restudy Van's knowledge of Runesmith. He started from selecting materials to smithing and carving magic runes. Higher-quality materials were more difficult to smith and carve with magic runes. He tried to understand what he read based on Van's memory, but he sadly found out that Van's knowledge was bits and pieces. He could not understand a single process because even one step in Runesmith had no complete information in Van's memory.

When Edgar went back to the castle, it was already slightly dark. Candles and lamps were lit. He went to his study room and continued reading books about Runesmith. It was quite difficult to read because there was not enough light from the lamp. He looked at the light and started thinking of the possibility of a magic lamp.

It will be expensive if the lamp must be maintained by magic stones. He started exploring his current knowledge and Van's memories for alternatives. His eyes suddenly lit up. There was an alternative, a stone that could be found on the southern continent, the land of elves. The stone attracted light elements and could gave light around it.

The lightstone could have been a popular commodity if not for its limitations. Once the lightstone was taken out of its source, its light will only last for a few hours before it completely disappeared. The lightstone will become an ordinary stone. For Edgar, research can make the impossible possible.

He might send a research team to the southern continent and collaborate with the elves. The transport of lightstone will be costly because it had to travel from the land of elves, then pass through the Fran kingdom before reaching Baynard. Although it was costly, the price of lightstone was cheap, so the profit should still be large.

Edgar sighed. Baynard did not have direct access to the sea. South of the kingdom was a long mountain range. Beyond the mountain range was a legendary, dangerous land.

"If Baynard has direct access to the sea, the kingdom's development will accelerate a lot. Too bad," Edgar murmured to himself.

The next morning, he went back to the Runesmith Department. Chief Alsef was shocked. He thought the prince was already asking if the research team had already made a sample. The research team was not even set up yet! Everyone was reluctant to join the prince's research team. Some thought it was just a toy of the prince. Later, the team that did not join Edgar's research team will be full of regret. His research team will be the richest researcher and have the most advanced tools for research in the kingdom.

He asked Alsef if he could let someone teach him Runesmith. He did not mention the lightstone for the magic lamp because he had not finalized the plan.

Alsef felt relieved and surprised. He thought the prince was fascinated by Runesmith because of his toys and had the impulse to study. Alsef agreed, then he made a bet with his co-researchers that the prince would only last for a month before giving up. Others bet for a few months or a year. Someone jokingly said that it might last for five years. Alsef terribly lost. They all lost.
