Owen and Melba looked at each other in uncertainty and confusion. This bride… really behaved like he was married to nothing more than another man.

The farmer then chuckled and bid goodbye. “Then I’ll wait for news about it. I will come home now. I will return at ten to pick you up again, Milan.”

“Okay, I’ll wait for you.” Milan waved his hand at the leaving figure. He then looked at Melba, who inspected the new room. “We’re going to see Corbin later. Esperanza woke up already, so I figured Corbin should be stirring in his sleep at least.”

“If the great Lasair wills it, the man should have woken up as well.” Melba couldn’t give a guarantee. She just wished to help Milan believe with what little faith he had. However, she remembered something and returned to pick up the baskets she brought with her.
