He Walked Among His Children

Lasair didn’t answer right away. He only stared at those crystal blue eyes and moved closer. His huge ceramic cheek bumped against Milan’s palm when the bride raised a hand to catch the big doll face.

“Yes.”

Milan smiled bigger and let the face move closer toward him. He even let the doll face get close enough for his own cheek to press against the ceramic face. “Thank you for answering. Can I ask more? I really want to know what you did. I don’t want to doubt you and Owen at the same time. That body double you sent is also making my head hurt…”

A chuckle came from the doll face, and Milan felt like this was the first time he heard it. It sounded rather familiar, but he couldn’t put a finger on the person he knew who chuckled like this. The doll hand moved to hold Milan’s side carefully.

In a wordless whisper, Lasair vanished into the air.
