Forbidden Spell

Centennia, Heaven World

****************

A day before

****************

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Viriel stood behind the Mahogany door looking to speak with the famous Blacksmith in Centennia, Heaven World. A soft rustling sound was overheard in Viriel's ears and the door opened for a few seconds. A stocky Angel stood before Viriel.

His features were old and he had wings like the Angel warriors unlike other souls in Heaven that maintained their humanoid form – wingless. He wore white clothes that covered his whole body and a golden string that served as his belt.

Zudkiel was one of the oldest angel warriors who retired a long time ago and was chosen to become a blacksmith. A noble duty to serve the Heavenly supreme. He was the first among the Angel warriors and was deployed as one of the 1st ranks during his stint.

He was one of the legendary Angel warriors that have served the heavenly supreme the longest and one who contributed much that molded the foundation of the Heaven world.

Zudkiel smiled at first sight of Viriel. The third rank angel entered his house as he was shown inside. Inside the house was a series of various sword designs that hung beautifully along the stretch of the shop and different shield designs were displayed on the other side.

Low suspended lights were installed that gave a faint illumination to the room. The interior gleamed not by the said light but by the shine of the metals used on the weapons.

They sat on a wooden chair in the living room and Zudkiel offered him tea held by a wooden center coffee table in front of them, but Viriel refused his offer.

"Welcome to my shop, how can I help you, Viriel? Do you need weapons?" He said with a friendly tone.

"How come there are a lot of weapons here? Are we compensating for something?" Viriel asked as he gazed upon the newly manufactured weapons and shields that heaved the place.

The Blacksmith chuckled. "I sensed a war is coming Viriel. It is always coming. The Hell god is so unstable." The Blacksmith mused. He was the best weapon maker and designer in Heaven and wisdom comes second to his character. He was one of the oldest Angels and had experienced many wars against the Demon world.

"Zudkiel, I do not need weapons as of this moment. I just need information." Viriel said. Zudkiel kept on looking at Viriel's holsters and his face puckered.

"I did not see your Ferrum Minus, the one that I gave you." He asked.

"I passed it on to capable hands," Viriel smirked. "It was a necessity, Zudkiel."

"I believe what you did is right, Viriel." Heavenly souls and angels always chose what is moral and good in their perspective. They rely on trust and faith in most cases.

"Not breaking the law this time, Viriel?" Zudkiel laughed as he asked.

Viriel chose not to answer and steered the conversation to his objective. "How many Demons that the Ferrum Minus had to kill to let the user achieve back all his powers?" Viriel was blunt with his questioning. He knew that Zudkiel could sense that he broke the law but he gambled on Zudkiel not reporting him to the Heavenly Supreme.

Zudkiel gave him a long stare before answering. "You are talking about interdimensional migrations, Viriel. It is a risky move, 5th degree of our Heavenly laws. I do not see the Ferrum Minus is with you, thus I would assume you have transmigrated somebody and lent him the purge blade."

"If you say so," Viriel said nonchalantly and did not also give a hint that Zudkiel was right.

"Depending on the wielder, Viriel. If it's a Demon Lord who wields, then he should kill about two thousand demon souls. If it's the lowest level Demon, then it would take only two…."

"What about a Death Harbinger?" Viriel interjected.

"It would be around one thousand demon souls." Zudkiel smiled and it was clear to him that Viriel gave the purge blade (Ferrum Minus) to a Death Harbinger.

"Now, may I have a cup of tea?" Viriel smiled.

Zudkiel offered him a cup of warm Camellia Tea. Its aroma stood out inside the room and invaded the scents of both angels. It replaced the smell of newly smelted steel.

"How about killing Kragus?" Viriel asked as he finished a sip from his cup.

Zudkiel did not answer immediately and gave him another long stare in the face. His face puckered again emphasizing the fine wrinkles on his forehead. He sipped his tea and answered, "Only a god can kill another god."

"Is there no other way to stop Kragus from invading earth?"

"Only Arkeus can kill him. That if he would permit himself to transmigrate to another world, making heaven vulnerable."

"It won't happen, I think. Arkeus relies on the faith of human beings that could stop Kragus from invading their world." Zudkiel mused.

"I think Arkeus is not banking on his faith in humans. I think he is referring to the Earth god – Nebirus."

Viriel's eyes were wide open and clenched his hands under the arm of his chair.

"Nebirus?" Viriel uttered his name as if not knowing his existence. He had reasons to show to the veteran angel that such information was not known to him.

"Nebirus was gone for many Centuries and Arkeus have not heard from him for so long. But he did not think that Nebirus died because he can still feel his presence within the three-dimensional worlds." Zudkiel pondered.

Zudkiel took another sip of tea and continued, "If you planned to kill Kragus, your efforts will just be futile. The only way to stop him is another god or you break the seventh-degree Heavenly laws."

"Seventh degree?" Viriel asked with utmost perturbation on his face. He never heard about the seventh degree of Heavenly laws, only the sixth – known to be the highest infraction that the Angels and the heaven souls could commit.

"Seventh degree are the laws governing the forbidden spells. These spells, when conjured, would contribute to the chaos, distracting the balance between the three worlds. Arkeus kept this degree a secret for a millennium now for he does not want to reveal the powers of these spells and the capability that they carried."

"How many spells within this degree?" Viriel asked.

"There are only five spells capable of tipping the balance of these worlds. One that you can use against Kragus is to forcibly migrate a god to another world. Some call it the 'God Banishing' spell."

There was a moment of silence. Viriel momentarily digested the information with difficulty. He never heard of spells cast by Angels. How much more a spell strong enough to break a god's strength and forced him to be migrated to another dimension?

"Do you know how to cast it?"

"Be careful what you ask from now on Viriel. I don't want other Angels or even humanoid souls overhearing our conversation about the spells. It would invite prying ears. I know how to cast the spell. We used the spells during the first war against the Demon world.

Arkeus forbade the use of these spells after winning the war. There are only three oldest Angels that could cast these spells and they would rebuke you for even asking it."

"But why are you telling me this?"

"Because I see a purpose in you Viriel, greater than every Angel here. A mission that you wanted and was not blessed by Arkeus himself. You might have broken some laws but your intentions are true. That is fine with me Viriel.

I grew old in this life and had my morals to ponder." He turned his face towards his battered armor that was held by a glass box, it served as his monument that stood majestically amongst his newly manufactured merchandise. The armor represented his service as an Angel warrior and was among the 1st ranks.

He glanced back at Viriel and said, "I could tell you how when you come back, but first, give me the best reason why I should teach you. It is not easy and it would cost a lot of souls just by casting it, collateral damage as you might say. But you cannot do this if you do not manage to weaken Kragus."

"How to weaken Kragus?"

"Well, you weaken Kragus by killing all his Demon Lords. His Demon Lords are the extensions of his power. He leveraged much from his Demon Lords. It was parts of Kragus that he separated from his essence and grew into different beings. These Demon Lords represented the six of the Cardinal Sins, and Kragus was the Seventh sin – greed."

"It made sense. The Demon Lords are the key to defeating Kragus." Viriel mused.

"If you defeat them, then come back to me. I will show you the way of achieving the God Banishing spell."

Their conversation continued with the veteran Angel rebuking the unforgivable doings of Kragus and the wars that transpired written in the history books. Sharing his experiences gave Zudkiel a momentous time to reminisce and pride plastered his expression. They exchanged laughter as the veteran angel injected humor into the chaos that caused the historical war.

"Thanks, Zudkiel. It has been a pleasure." Viriel drank all his tea from his cup.

Viriel stood up and thanked Zudkiel. There was a lot to talk about but his mission now was to eliminate first the Demon Lords to weaken Kragus. He needed to tell Dreygo about this or his pursuits would be pointless. They exchanged handshakes and went out of the shop.
