Their Emerald Eyes

Orians' P.O.V.

As we make our way towards Rains' room, I link Evan, the guard who was standing guard at her door, and told him to inform Jessica that we were coming and that I needed her in the hall when we arrive. I want to explain things to her first so that she doesn't feel blindsided by everything, and maybe she can even help us explain it to Rain. I also link the King to explain my thought process, and he agrees. When we arrive at Rains' room, Jessica is already standing in the hall waiting for us.

"Lady Ezmerelda, I would like to introduce you to my mate Jessica, Rains' sister," I say, then turn to Jessica. "This is Lady Ezmerelda, Rains' mother."

Jessica stands there stunned for a moment before. "Oh Goddess, your eyes, she has your eyes!" She practically shouts out as tears start to flow freely down her face. Lady Ezmerelda pulls her into a tight embrace.

"I am so happy to know she had family, someone to make sure she wasn't alone after being taken from her father and me." Lady Ezmerelda says through her own tears.

"This is a beautiful sight, family coming together regardless of blood relation," De'von says, and I completely agree with him. I turn to look at the King only to notice he has already walked into Rains' room.

"Probably wants to warn her too," De'von says.

"Yea, you're probably right. Rain has had a lot happen this past week." I say. "Better to let her know before it happens at this point. I'll ask him if he's ready for us to enter."

"My King, may we enter now, or would you like a few more minutes to prepare her?" I ask, and he tells me we can enter.

Rains' P.O.V.

I hear a knock on the door. Then the door opens, and a man's voice I don't recognize says. "Ms.Jessica and Ms.Rain, I apologize for the interruption, but Beta Orian would like to talk to Ms.Jessica out in the hall."

"I'll be right there. Thank you, Evan." Jess says before giving my hand one more squeeze as she climbs out of my bed.

"I wish the King wanted to talk to me," I say, feeling defeated.

"Don't overthink it, Rainie-bug. He seems like the silent type. Just give him some time." She says. "I'll be right back, okay?" I nod my head. Then I hear the door open and close lightly again, and I cuddle back up to Odett.

After a minute or two, the door opens and closes again, and I smell the scent that has easily become my favorite scent in the world. My stomach feels like I have butterflies trying to burst out, just from my mates' scent. Goddess, how will I ever be able to control myself when I can actually see him?

"Rain, are you awake?" He asked, his voice like velvet.

"Yes," I say while I sit up in the bed. With my sight slowly coming back, I can make out his silhouette.

"His arms are huge." Dosha howles in my head.

"He may be about to reject us, and you're gawking at the size of his arms?" I criticize my wolf.

"How are you feeling? Are your eyes' going any better?" He asks, and I can feel his remorse rolling off him, making me panic even more. Why would he be feeling remorse?

"I feel fine. My sight is slowly coming back." I say. "I can make out shapes. I still can't see the details right now, though. But I'm close."

"That's great. I have someone here who is extremely eager to meet you. If at any time you start to feel overwhelmed, just let me know, and I will handle it myself." He says.

"Oh, Okay," I say, slightly disappointed that he only wanted to talk about someone else.

"Later, if you are up for it, I will tell you who I am, and we can talk about us." He says, almost like he can read my mind. I nod in agreement.

A moment later, I hear the door open and can tell at least four people have walked into the room. My mate never leaves my side as everyone fills into the room and surrounds my bed. I can feel Odett wake up and jump when she sees this many people surrounding us.

"Mamma, what's going on? What are they all doing?" She says, and I pick her up and place her in my lap.

"It's okay, sweetie. You are safe here." Jess says as she sits down beside us.

"Rain, this is Lady Ezmerelda, Head Witch of the Silver Nyx Coven in New Orleans. She is also your mother." Zion says, and my body goes ridged. I can feel my chest tighten and my throat trying to tighten up on me.

"I think you are having a panic attack. Try to calm down. Jess wouldn't be okay with letting her in here with you and Odett if she thought she had any bad intentions." Dosha reasons with me till the King realizes something is wrong and gently grabs my hand and starts rubbing his free hand up and down my arm calming me even further.

"Thank you," I whisper, knowing he will hear me.

After what felt like forever, I finally broke my silence. "Oh, umm, it's nice to meet you," I say as I reach my hand to shake her hand, not really sure what to say to the mother I've never known.

"You have her eyes," Jess says, and I smile. I've always loved my eyes.

"Is that your daughter?" Lady Ezmerelda asks, and I assume she's talking about Odett, who is still clinging to me.

"Yes, I didn't give birth to her, but she is still mine. Just like Jess is my sister." I say with a huge smile on my face as I pull Odett closer to me, making her giggle.

"She is absolutely beautiful, and she has our eyes too." She says, and I nod in agreement.
