No One Touches Their Family

"Was it last Thursday?" Marcella asked Joey.

They went out on a date and Mary told them Joey answered a call. He had gone to bed that night without even having dinner.

"…Yes," Joey answered.

Tony let out a sigh and pulled him closer. "Son, why didn't you talk to us about it immediately? Why did you keep it in your heart for days?"

Joey bowed his head. "I thought Aunt Beth was pulling my leg at first but then… I…I am sorry…" he said.

"You don't have to be sorry for anything, Joey," Marcella said.

There is someone else who should feel sorry.

"I am truly fine. I was confused at first but my teacher explained how every family is different," Joey said. "I now understand. I am grateful for you."

"You talked to your teacher about this?" Marcella asked.

She was a little hurt that he could talk to his teacher about it but not to them.
