Chapter 44: Grind Never Stops

Time to drink and get into reading. As I started to drink potions that would increase my strength I also opened the first book. The first book that I picked is the shortest one. Most of them are under a hundred pages but are close to that number.

This one titled only has fifty pages. Now I picked this one for being short. This might be a book small in number of pages. It might have a lot of information that will be hard to read through. I can't give up even if that is the case.

I said that but it has been an hour and I am already on the floor tired. I finished the book and what was my reward? Not much, since I do not understand it on a deep level. I was only given +2 wisdom. Meaning it is not bad because more knowledge is good. I was hoping for a skill.

I did get some knowledge or leadership so I guess it wasn't all bad. Knowledge is a valuable thing. I also have the privilege to read a book. Books are hard to get in this world. It is almost like someone is making it impossible for books to be produced.

Since I finished that book I went on with a new book. I read the back of all my books. And this one should be easy for me to understand. makes sense to me because my stats have always been low. From what I can tell this book is more business orientated. Still should be good for me.

I got halfway through the book. I was right it is easy for me to understand. I had to stop halfway because it is way past dinner time. I am so hungry! It is close to 8 pm. I should have eaten food three hours ago.

Reading takes a lot of time. I got distracted trying to get the books done. I thought the potions would fill my stomach but after peeing. My stomach feels super light. 10 bottles of strength-raising stats made me feel stronger. I even feel mentally stronger!

Time to go out for food. I guess I will bring my book in a bag. If I eat at a restaurant with decent lighting I can read. What to eat though? I don't know I got some time to walk around.

As I walk around I passed by the restaurant Mariella and Rita work at. The shop is called Nice Angel. Why? Because those girls must be nice like angels. Yeah, that was cringy even for my own mind. I am sure it is because the girls that work there are easy on the eyes.

When I tried passing the restaurant I was stopped. As a girl, I wasn't really looking forward to seeing her. Mariella is Luna's mom. She was the one who really pushed me to marry Luna. Which I want to do later on in life. I just don't want to right now. I don't want a cute girl to be with a weak man.

I tried to ignore Mariella saying something but she ran to face me. Blocking me from moving on. I can't pretend like I didn't hear her. Now I see her and I really hear her now. I will pretend like I didn't hear her the first time.

"Mariella it is good to see you," I said with a wry smile. Trying to hide my frustration even though it is leaking out.

With eyes close she showed a big smile. "It is good to see you too!" After she finished speaking she opened her eyes and hugged me.

I wonder how many people have the wrong idea about our relationship. She is older than she looks. She must be at least forty or something. She is acting like a kid making me look a creepy.

I should be happy she hugged me without tackling me. Sheep animal persons tend to headbutt people. Or at least that is what I was told by Luna after she headbutted me.
