"Let's do something fun," Zoey said, grabbing my hand from across the table.

We sat at the kitchen table eating lunch of cheese pizza, another unhealthy meal picked by Zoey.

"I am relieved you're not mad at me for spilling the beans to Kim."

"I was at first, and I am just relieved now, I didn't think she would react that way," she said.

"How come?"

"I wasn't currently on speaking terms with her either," Zoey said.

You guys seemed very close.

"We were, she tried to get me away from alcohol, away from trouble, and I didn't listen," she said.

"I believe now you guys can work it out" "

"What if I do and then I leave, I go to heaven or hell, what if that is my unfinished business?'' she asked with her eyes starting to water.

This was the very fear that pulled at my soul; it ate me alive. What if Zoey is right? What if she works everything out holding her back, and then she just leaves?

"Zoey, I think you are right; let's do something fun."

"What do you want to do?'' she said, nearly jumping out of her seat.

"Anything you want, darling." I flashed her a grin.

" Is the old town flea market still open? she asked.

"Yes, I believe it is."

"They have adorable little chickens," said Zoey.

"Chickens."

"Yes, we can get one outside, wouldn't that be the sweetest thing for the cemetery?"

"I am not getting no damn chicken, Zoey.''

"Just when I was beginning to think you were cool, you said no to the chicken,'' she said, flashing me one of those adorable pouty lips.

"We get the dang chicken. I am going to be the one taking care of it, because you're going to heaven. The silver city, remember my angel."

Her face turns red; she narrows her eyes at me. I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"The devil already has my room; I am afraid," she said.

"I doubt that."

"Are you ready to go look at those chickens?"

"Yep, is Ghost coming?" she asked.

"No, he'll bark at anything and everything." I chuckled.

We walked out of the front door, hand in hand. Zoey skipped happily, singing a tune. The happiness she brings into my life, I can't explain it, and I barely understand it. I have never fallen for someone so fast. We reached the truck, and both climbed inside. Zoey instantly turns on the radio as soon as I turn over the truck ignition.

We drove down the road, and Zoey glanced out the window, still singing along to the radio. We went by the burger joint and farmers market.

We drove by a gas station, and Zoey started grabbing her head. I couldn't see her face to tell if she was crying.

" You have a headache, baby." I placed my hand on her leg.

"I had a memory; I meant dad here at the gas station before the car accident."

I was meeting him to talk, and I got in his car and drove away," she said.

I pulled into the gas station. "What are you doing?" Zoey asked. "

If you got into your dad's car and got into a car accident, your car would have been left here."

"And," said Zoey. "

What type of car did you drive?"

"A black Ford focus," she said.

I walked into the gas station with Zoey by my side; I don't care if I look like a madman. I need answers about Zoey.

I remember a car being parked here. What type of car was it? Ford focus.

"Hello, Kevin,'' said a girl named Lisa.

"Hey Lisa, there was a black Ford focus parked here for quite a while, was it for sale?

"No, the police retrieved it a few days ago; it belongs to a missing girl named Zoey Hall."

"Missing,'' I tried my best to appear shocked. "

It's a shame she was a beautiful girl, and the family claims she was an alcoholic, probably what caused her to go missing," Lisa said.

"Thanks, Lisa", then I turned away.

We got back into the truck, and that's when I noticed all the candy. Zoey had many bags of candy in her hands. "What the hell that is stealing Zoey?"

"She said I went missing because I was an alcoholic, that's rude," she said.

"She's just repeating stuff she hears."

Zoey shrugs her shoulders.

"I am taking all this candy in the gas station and paying for it.

"What are you going to say, sorry my ghost stole it?" she said with a smirk.

She's right, everyone would think I was mad.

"Let me enjoy being invisible one time," she said.

"Fine, but that better never happen again, Zoey." I took a bag of M&Ms.

We arrived at the flea market. We both got out of the truck and walked up to the vendor's hand in hand. Zoey ran up to all the tables, looking at all the jewelry. She pointed to a big sparkly diamond ring.

"I always dreamed about getting engaged," she said.

"I wish I could make all your dreams come true, but sadly you can't marry someone already dead."

Zoey rolls her eyes.

I want to make her happy.

"How much for the diamond ring," I asked the lady behind the counter.

She replies." It is two hundred dollars." I pulled out my wallet and gave her the money.

"Someone special," she asked.

"Something like that."

We walked away, and I tried to hand Zoey the ring.

" I am not accepting the ring until I get a proper proposal, right here, right now," she said with her arms across her chest.

"Zoey, no one will see you, I will look like a lunatic. She gives me a pouty lip.

"Fine," I rolled my eyes.

I get down on one knee and say "Zoey will make me happy and marry me."

Everyone around us stops and stares, looking shocked and confused about what is going on.

"I am not sure if I can accept it, I am going to be moving far away.".

"Stop playing games, Zoey, everyone is staring at us."

"Fine if you insist," she said.

I got up from one knee and slid the ring on her finger. She wraps her arms around me and kisses me on the lips. I know Zoey can never marry me, but I was happy to make one of her dreams come true.

After we are done giving everyone a show. We walked towards the farm animals; they had all the farm animals you could think of for sale. Zoey gets down in front of one of the cages of chickens.

"Please, Kevin, can we get one of the chickens?"

"I already said no chickens."

"Excuse me," a man from behind the counter said.

"Oh, sorry, just talking to myself, sir."

"Kevin, let's get the chicken," Zoey said.

"No, it's going to be too much work."

"I will help you," Zoey said.

"We already had this conversation, Zoey."

Meanwhile, the guy behind the counter is looking terrified. I might as well buy the damn chicken before he calls the nuthouse on me.

"Which chicken do you want?" Zoey pointed to a big white and black chicken.

I give the money to the man behind the counter, who is still speechless.

"Make sure you go home and take your medicine," he tells me after he takes the money from me.

"I will do that."

"I hope you're happy now, Zoey, now everyone here thinks I am a wack job."

"I wouldn't worry about it; they just don't have an imagination," she said, rolling her eyes.

I handed her the chicken. We walked a little bit more through the flea market. I wonder if people are just seeing a floating chicken, or did he become invisible too? I buy Zoey and myself lemonade at the concession stand before we leave.
