Chapter 61 Death

"We need to be careful," Alex warned, his arms still wrapped protectively around me. "I don't want anything to happen to you."

"I know," I replied, my voice trembling with a mix of fear and disbelief. Matt had been alive just moments ago, and now he was gone. How could all this happen so abruptly?

Alex gathered his clothes, ready to go out and investigate. "Now, I need to go check on him. Hopefully, I can find some trace left by the killer."

"Sure," I echoed, but the truth was I was still in shock, trying to process everything that had just happened. It felt like a dream, surreal and unreal. Somehow the memory of my father's death on the battlefield came rushing back to me. It had been an ordinary day until Matt had delivered the news, and then everything had turned dark, and I had fainted.
