“The moon was reigning over their world, glowing its full splendor to all those willing to look up.”
–Irina Serban
…
Long story short, after Lunamor dropped him off yesterday in the market to get some of his grocery shopping done, (pointedly ensuring that the people saw her for the sake of their fabricated ‘relationship’) she left him… with two of her bodyguards shadowing a few meters behind him until he was able to go home much later.
It was already way past seven in the evening when his borrowed bodyguards notified him that it was safe to finally return to his apartment.
And even though he was infuriated to suddenly acquire a new pair of shadows (who thankfully kept their distance), Hiro would never admit out loud that he has never been more glad to see his normally peaceful apartment building looking so quiet once more, secretly pleased that Lunamor had already acted upon her promise to deal with the crowd; the restraining order to the reporters she had filed much earlier that morning seemed to do the trick… for now.
To make sure that a bunch of reporters won’t come knocking on his building again, Lunamor had collaborated with the owner of the apartment Hiro was staying in and had all but for their security to improve.
Although that is what Lunamor insisted on telling him but Hiro was fairly certain that some of the new security guards loitering around the hallways were somehow also working for her… because seriously, since when did mere security guards are marked with the same crescent moon tattoo anyway?
What is this, a trend?
Shikataganai...
Hiro thought that he wouldn’t mind, considering what he had just agreed on yesterday. He had just agreed to be in a fake relationship–with his student no less, something that his parents would most certainly disapprove of (yes, they are most certainly, both definitely rolling in their graves by now) and while Hiro was still seriously considering his life choices, he had thought it was kind of ironic since he had always thought that fake relationships only happened in romance stories… looks like he was wrong.
Life is full of surprise indeed.
And it’s not done surprising him just yet.
“Going somewhere?”
Hiro glanced at her, nodding… only to do a double-take just as he was about to get inside his car upon seeing Lunamor inside her car parked just a few feet away from his.
“Lunamor, what are you doing here?!”
“We haven’t properly discussed our agreement…” she answered, leaning back on the passenger seat with both of her arms crossed, “I’m here to pick you up. Get in the car.”
“But…”
Her eyebrow rose.
“Well, I was actually planning to visit my sister,” Hiro answered, scratching the back of his neck, “I always showed up at her place on Sundays, so…”
“What’s her name?”
“Hm?”
“Your sister, I mean.”
“…Akira.” Hiro muttered, “Her name’s Akira.”
“I see… so guess I’ll be seeing you later then.” Lunamor said, sighing a bit as the window began to roll up. “Tell her I said ‘hi’.”
Hiro bit at his lip, considering.
It’s… actually feels kind of rude if he shoos her off away like this, especially after all the effort she went through yesterday. And today as well.
Now, it’s his turn to sigh.
Aw, screw it.
“Wait. I’m coming with you,” Lunamor paused, glancing u[ at him curiously as the window immediately stops rolling. Hiro shrugs, “It’s no big deal. I can still go visit her later. Do you want to tag along?”
Wait.
...What.
Hiro froze just as soon the words hung in the air. Between him and her, he couldn’t really decide who looks more surprised at the offer.
Lunamor blinked, “If it’s alright with you…”
“Y-yeah. Uh, okay? So... where are we going?”
Lunamor leveled him with a glare, “Just get in.”
Hiro huffed in annoyance as he locked his car, reluctantly dragging himself to get inside the car–a bit childish yes, but Hiro was just really annoyed being told what to do, making it a point to take a seat on the farthest side from Lunamor... not that she seemed to notice since her focus immediately turned to whatever she was typing on her laptop even when he slammed the door shut.
“Is that for work?” Hiro asked.
“Yes.” Lunamor answered, not bothering to raise her eyes away from the overly bright screen. Good gracious, how can her eyes endure that? At this rate, Lunamor will end up wearing glasses like him too… “We are stopping at my office on the way.”
“Fine, fine, fine… whatever, so where are we going exactly?” Hiro asks, glancing at the scenery outside as the car began to move.
“Luna Enterprises.”
Hiro hummed, “So… you intended to bring me to work and now you have to come up with a new plan and you just don’t know where we’re going yet?”
She sighed, “No.”
“We’re just going to talk right?” Hiro asked, turning to look at her as he reached out his hand to plant it firmly on the screen, making her stop from typing–good, now he has her attention. And Hiro immediately tried not to wince at the clear focus of her glare, “Now’s a good time as any, Lunamor. Can’t we just like… do it now?”
“No,” she repeated.
“Why do we have to go to Luna Enterprises anyway?’
She tried to pry his hand off of her laptop with a gloved finger. And when that did not work, she began to tap at it relentlessly, “…You’ll see when you get there.”
Hiro raised an eyebrow at her.
She returned his stare.
Groaning, Hiro looked away first, taking his eyeglasses off of his face and rubbing at his dried-out eyes after a long moment of staring at her. This is stupid, “Yare, yare daze… just tell me where we’re going already!”
“If I tell you now, you’ll start complaining.”
“…Maybe because I don’t support stupidity?”
“Then why do you always act like one?”
“Oh, so now you think I’m stupid?”
Her stare flattened.
Hiro snorts, “Pot calling the kettle black.”
If possible, that deadened look on her face flattened even further, “I dare you. I double dare you to look at the mirror and say that again.”
He glanced over at her, a single eyebrow rising at the slightly ticked-off expression on her otherwise usually blank face. “…No, thank you. But really, Lunamor. It’s more like you’re so ridiculously easy to rile up sometimes.”
“And you’re easy to bait,” she retorted.
Hiro scoffed at that as he looked back out the window while Lunamor pushed off his hand to continue typing… Hiro was a bit disappointed that he had failed to know where they are going.
The driver–whom Hiro had struck up a short conversation with yesterday and found out that his name is Mr. Rafael Bartolini, Lunamor’s personal chauffeur since she was ten–pulled into the parking structure attached to Luna Enterprises’ building and navigated expertly to a parking spot.
As soon as Mr. Bartolini had stopped the car and got out, pulling the car door open for Lunamor, she got out as well and gestured for Hiro to follow her before walking straight towards the entrance.
“See you later,” Hiro said amicably to the older man who chuckled heartily at him, making him glance at Rafael curiously who only smirked mysteriously back at him.
“Somehow, I doubt that signore.”
…that sounds pretty ominous.
