Chapter 19

Norgus strained as he is raised himself onto his feet, slamming his hand upon the metal deck of the battlecarpet, he gave a cry of fury, but before he could fully satisfy the burning desire of his rage, the Mace's fleet of interstellar chariots fell upon their fleet, unleashing volleys of beams and halos. Enacting a shield from the metal band on his wrist, he fought to keep his balance with a knee bending forward as he received the impact of the storm. Norgus growled as he battled against the forceful impact which the halos landing on his shield bore. The metal pads on his knees screeched, exhuming sparks as it slid over the battlecarpet's armoured surface as he was thrown backwards on receiving the impact.

Norgus got back on his feet as soon as the storm died away, he had gotten some bruises but the battle was just beginning and he had more than just a reserve of strength within him to keep fighting.

"Ray guns", Norgus ordered, "fire !"

Once again, another storm of flames came crashing upon the Mace. This time, instead of raising a shield Thorace confronted the storm head on, unleashing a surge of flames. The collision was severe, the halos from the Mace burying the Feudal Order's storm in its enflamed and lightning infested waves, crashing down like a cosmic avalanche upon the Feudal Order's fleet.

"Shields !" Came Norgus' cry.

The forcefield quaked and quivered and soon it gave way unleashing that cosmic mountain of flames upon the Feudal Order's army. Not wanting to get caught up in its mighty waves, Norgus created the geometric helm of his battlecarpet, making a configuration, he sent the battlecarpet diving downwards, ducking underneath the storm which blew past him overhead. The echoes that erupted pierced the distance with their thunderous reverberations as rank after rank of the Feudal Order's fleet was rapidly being wiped out. Most battlecarpets and battleships managed to veer out of the way but those consumed within its trail were no meagre numbers.

Satisfied with the outcome, a smile stole Thorace's face, staring at Trident as they came into a head on collision with the already disorganized fleet of the Feudal Order, Trident growled knowing that the moment he had been waiting for was closer than being called now - it had already begun.

Those blades tore out from the Mace's armour, mercilessly cutting through the ranks of battleships and battlecarpets, the screech of cutting steel echoed as the Mace made a clear path for its progression. Thorace's battleboard took off from the Mace's edge as he charged into the thick of the battle with Trident leading the way, his bronze hooves gliding over the air as he ascended into a state of frenzy, his hair and hide becoming enflamed, he delved into the ranks of combat ready soldiers upon a battleship. Their laser crossbows unleashed volleys of beams upon him but his enflamed being reflected them making them rebound to their origins. His antlers clashed with their blades as he gored the Feudal Order's soldiers down in scores, his enflamed hooves knocking and smashing them, his stellar motion fraying the distance made him a spear of lightning cutting past ranks of soldiers with ease. Halos fell upon him from all corners, his mind ever ready either made him bolt out of the way or his antlers cushioned the impact and he too unleashing a halo of his from his being wiping out the battleships and battlecarpets that stood in his way. Leaping from any spacewreaked or crashing vessel, he brought them down one by one as the heat of battle pulsated deeper into his being, his being becoming enflamed as he ascended this peak of cosmic elevation, he became a cosmic being of his own. Untiring and undying his will was severe and fiery.

Crowding him, their beams struck him from all corners as they tore out from the crossbows of the Feudal Order's soldiers. Trident roared to the skies, and that explosion erupted from his being, completely wiping them out, he sent the ship crashing as a meteor of flames.

His hooves landed aboard another battleship and again they came for him in their hundreds, enraged and bloodthirsty - so was he. Ever willing to battle, his antlers clashed into that sea of blades.

He raved and burnt of a higher cosmic energy that pulsated through his veins making him weave his way like lightning and taking down anything obstructing his path. They too kept resurfacing but he remained, ever victorious and triumphant, rising above the debris.

Catching the one mass of steel and blades from the side of his eye, Trident dove out of the way, the mace striking another soldier as the attacker missed his mark. Plunging himself forward, Trident gored the soldier who couldn't react to his spontaneous motion. But Trident knew he had seen something larger than that mace, with its massive shadow concealing him from behind, Trident spun around his antlers receiving the impact of that battlecarpet about to ram its bow upon him.

Trident battled on, unyielding in his resolve, his hooves sank deep into the armour of the battleship on which he stood. Closing his eyes, he knew whoever it was riding the battlecarpet was hell-bent on crushing him that he didn't mind destroying another vessel belonging to his side in order to do so. Therefore, he was going to let whoever it was know, that if they thought they could send him limp by simply battering a cosmic beast like him, then they were wrong.

His body blazed even brighter as his burning veins bulged out of his hide, those cracks etched themselves all over his body making his being rave. His muscles bulged as his being grew larger making him lift the battlecarpet into the air with his antlers. His closed eyes tore open as he unleashed a massive storm of enflamed lightning which consumed the entire battlecarpet blasting it into oblivion.

Turning around, Trident saw the ranks of advancing soldiers back away, his new form flaring, standing proudly - a stallion in the burning light of his antlers now larger - he growled, blowing flames from his nostrils. Roaring to the skies, the astral heavens above quaked, staring down at his attackers, his eyes burnt lightning gold.

"Who's first ?" Trident fired, the soldiers stepping backwards. "No one !" His guturral voice blared. " Then I'll just have to choose myself."
