Welcome to Hell

Deici paced the up and down the small empty house waiting for Typhon to arrive, the kidnapped girl out cold on a singular gray couch in a corner. He had given her a quick anesthetic to keep her asleep for at least another hour. He was tempted to start the interrogation before Typhon arrived.

Typhon was in a foul mood. He looked forward to decompressing after a job. A long hot shower and a nice meal at his favorite sushi restaurant. He had rushed over as soon as he could hoping, no praying, he could clean up whatever mess Deici had made. He stepped through the door ready to tear him a new one, only to see their new house cleaner asleep in a corner. "Crap."

Typhon's sharp mind raced through countless scenarios and all ended in disaster. There was no path which led to this woman breathing in the morning, for them to survive her life must be forfeited. Deici paced as he talked about all of the ways to erase her existence, currently on the different ways to make fall her downstairs or off of very high places due to 'stress', 'drinking on the job' or throwing her in some ditch somewhere, but his soul balked at the ideas. He was no saint, he had plenty of blood on his hands, his soul swam in it. It was the currency of the job, blood equaled money. This was different! She was not a job! It was a line he would not cross, could not cross and hope to keep his mind intact and his conscience quiet.

"We can't kill her."

"It will be so-" Deici stopped mid step, his sentence trailing off as he turned to scrutinize him. "What did you say?"

"She is not sanctioned," Typhon said simply and sat down in the lazy boy opposite Ayla. The reason saving her life and his sanity.

Deici paused for a moment then through gritted teeth "they will never know, I'm not going to tell them, are you?"

Typhon took a deep breath and then slow explained the situation. "She is our housekeeper. She was hired through a legitimate firm which has recorded her assignment to our apartment."

"Why …." he held up his hand silencing Deici's question.

"I believe it was Zeus' doing. I was informed of her assignment and her information was forwarded to my phone, by Leon." "I think you pissed off the wrong people and they are watching and waiting for you to mess up…and here we are." He finished looking Deici dead in the eyes.

His personality had changed, his eyes were a dead giveaway. The playful eyes of the child had vanished and only the devil remained. "I see."

"He wants proof that you can't be trusted with this power. That you need to be kept under lock and key, his lock and their key."

"I'll take her back to the apartment. She knew she saw me teleport I can't fix that, but I can find a way to keep her quiet." "She will be moving in with us so I need her information so I can collect her things." Deici turned towards Ayla. "I think we may have a vacancy that she can fill, full-time."

Typhon did not like where this was going, but it meant she would live. He hated to admit it but this devil's mind was even sharper and more cunning than his, this was the edge that allowed Deici to survive whatever torture had created his unique body, that made him the perfect killing machine, that made being his enemy a death warrant. And this reaper always collected. Typhon sent him the information.

"What's your plan?" Typhon asked.

"Wouldn't want to ruin the surprise." Deici replied, lifting Ayla off the couch and shimmering out of existence.
