Chapter 1

Nana ran as fast she could, as long she didn't get a cramp in her leg she should be able to make it for her tram just in time before the doors closed. The rain did not help with the vision, but it did make the streets clear and in the back of her mind she did wish the tram would get delayed because of the rain.

Arriving just around the corner she realized today her prayers weren't answered, turns out that because of the bad weather cars had crashed. The road was blocked and unlikely that it would clear up any time soon. 'Well there goes my ride home' She saw the tram shut its door and depart. Giving up on getting home in time, she turned around to go around the other way.

'Well dear God, there better be a good reason as to why I sneaked out of work early only to be made late by you' she mumbled walking through the back alley as she ran into someone 'Soft' was the first thing she felt. A firm hand held her from falling, her waist arched back and her dark eyes looked up to face the other person who was staring down at her.

"Em… sorry and thank you," she said scooting out of the man's arm and fixing her wet blazer. He smiled back in response, his eyes lingering over her with an interest she had yet to understand. Nana's eyes fell on her hand which was stained red, following her gaze to the man's torso and his red-stained white shirt.

"I didn't do that right?" she panicked and pulled out her phone "Ambulance!" before she could press the call buttons, the man grabbed her hand.

"Don't call an ambulance or we both will end up dead" he spoke between heavy breathing taking the phone out of her hand while the color left her face at the mention of the word death.

"Do you know the X road?" his head beside her ear

"X road? Yes, the one behind the old bookstore?"

"Bring me there," he said and leaned over her

"Wait how-" Before she could protest the man spoke

"Why not? After all, I just saved you" his eyes still focused on her face another hand on the wall to hold himself steady.

"Yeah… no! There is no way I can carry you there" she said dismissing him, but it did not seem like the man cared and stepped forward Nana once more.

"Wait stop, I really can't help you drag yourself all the way there!" she stepped back. Where she did believe in her strength, the man was tall and clearly more than three times her own size and she was not small.

"Just wait here let me see what I can do," she said and rushed off. The man wondered if she was going to return, most likely she wouldn't like any sane person. What he saw next made him take his words back. The woman rushed back with a shopping trolley and something folded inside it.

"The front is a carpet store now please get in," she said holding the trolley from sliding away

"Get in?" his face showed clear disagreement with whatever her idea was.

"Well yes and do it before you collapse" She pulled out whatever was in the trolley "I can't help you walk but I can push the trolley"

The man gazed his grey eyes over the tacky mode of transport and tried to get in. He never had imagined at his age he would be riding in a shopping cart. Nana opened the tarp throwing it over the man who scrunched his nose at the iron-like smell hitting his nose "This smell…"

"From the tarp? It was from the butcher next door" she replied handing the man her bag to hold on then pulling the tarp over his head and making sure everything was covered. The man felt something more being put on top of him but was too tired to ask. Pulling the hood of her jacket and hiding her face, she started and pushed the trolley. Just when she was to make the final turn, two men stopped her and seemed to be trying to question her.

"This.. what this?" one of the men spoke. It seemed he couldn't speak English, but knew enough words to make sense.

"This? This is delivery for the butcher!" Nana said and the man didn't seem satisfied with her answer. The other man made his way to the trolley, opening the bag which was on top only to find leftover scrap from the butcher and pulled himself away disgusted. Well if she was going to be doing something wrong, she better do it carefully. Running off they finally arrived at the X road where men dressed up in suits were waiting like they said over the phone.

They walked over as soon as they saw her making her way toward them

"WHO ARE YOU?!" the man grabbed her by the collar of her shirt, she could feel her whole body being raised into air ash she was now her toes were barely touching the ground. Another man moved forward to inspect the trolly, pulling the tarp off to find who they has been waiting for just not in the manner they were expecting.

The man was curled inside the trolley as much as he could, unconscious and his legs hanging outside which were well wrapped by the tarp. Nana grabbed the hand which was holding her up in the air "He asked me to bring him here" she tried to explain struggling to get herself out of the grip.

The men looked at each other before giving a nod and throwing her on the ground "You must not speak of this to anyone" the man warned Nana before getting in the car and leaving her behind.
