Chapter 9

The next morning went slowly and in anticipation of the night coming. Ash and Ryla didn't spend much time together, things were awkward between them, every time he saw Ryla he kept remembering last night. They spend much of the time getting the ship repaired because there was no point in the breakout if they couldn't leave the town in time. They hadn't told anyone exactly what their plan was, but Murk and the others knew something was going on. Especially when he was instructed to get the ship ready to leave at a moment's notice.

"And if we don't make it" Ash continued explaining things to Murk "You leave the town for a few days, and come back if you don't sense any danger."

Ryla was uncomfortable with this thought, but Ash always prepared for the worst. But he wasn't worried about the ship now that Drax was recovering.

As the darkness descended upon the town and the streets became quite they made their way to the building. They checked the guards, they were still manning their usual positions. Entering the adjacent building was not a difficult task it was just some sort of warehouse with no one in it. When the reached the top and looked down, the fear returned inside Ash, but he remembered last night's feeling and clamped it down.

"All right, show me this new trick you found," Ryla said. She wasn't convinced by him earlier when he told her he had things taken care of.

Ash didn't explain about the blade and rather just did what he had done last night. Immediately the feeling and confidence returned. He swung the rope round and round with ease and familiarity and threw it into the night sky. It hurled through the air in a beautiful arc and landed right on the window ledge. Ash immediately pulled, and it was hooked. They tied the rope on their side and started covering the distance. They weren't exactly walking on the rope, but rather hanging on it like a couple of monkeys, looking up at the sky trying not to look down. Slowly and slowly, they made their way to the window, and when they reached it, they were glad to find it open. They slipped inside quietly. It was dark; Ash again used the blade, hoping it won't run out soon. it was easier to see in the dark now, they were on the staircase, and they started going down. Earlier in the day they had found the building's plan and saw that there was a basement in the building where the players were most likely kept. By the time they reached the basement door, it was less dark and the blade had vanished completely. It was just a small hilt now.

They saw the cells lined up going down into the far end of the basement. They searched them quietly. Most of the occupants were asleep. Some were awake but didn't pay much attention to them, thinking of them as guards patrolling the night. Ash felt terrible horror when he didn't see any familiar faces from the last fight. There were no amazons and no Raeya in any of the cells they checked twice and had to leave when they heard someone coming.

"what are we going to do now?" ryla asked as they made their way up the stairs.

"Shh let's get out of here first" but before Ash had taken another step. a loud alarm was ringing everywhere. They ran up the stairs like crazy but suddenly stopped when they spotted several guards outside their escape window. They had found the rope, that's why the alarm, they knew there were intruders in the building. They retraced their steps slowly, but there were guards downstairs now too. They were trapped. they looked at each other in defeat. Ryla finally looked him in the eyes and hugged him; her heart was beating loudly. He wanted to kiss her again. Then things seemed to happen slowly. The guard came in from both sides. They saw them and immediately caught them in chains. They were thrown in an empty cell. After a few hours, the corridor was lit, and some men were standing outside their cell. Ash looked up and realized it was Sakarr sneering down at them.

"Hmmm, they look young and fiery, I think they might be of better use somewhere else" he leered at Ryla "Throw them in with the others, let's see how well they will entertain us in the arena."
