Making a Deal

"Hello, my name is Daniel Gull. Here is my card. I am very interested in your work. Can we have lunch together and talk?"

It was clear he was excited. And this was good.

They went to the nearest McDonalds and after a burger and fries, Roy went straight to the point.

He could indeed talk his heart out and try to befriend Daniel but it was not worth it.

He had the system and it had given a boost to his confidence in his ability.

One had to know that the store he was given access to had tons of stuff.

He was just scared of the prices.

If this attempt failed, he could just go into debt.

But he was sure the stupid system would give him unfair terms which he was not confident he could meet.

That was why he wanted to use the system as little as possible.

"Mr. Daniel, I know what you want and I came for you to see it. So, how much money are you willing to fork out?"

He was poor and dumb in his studies, but when it came to street smarts, he dared say only mafia bosses could compete with him.

He knew that his ability could make him a billionaire but he did not have the patience or time to play around in the chip industry.

If he did not get a satisfactory answer, the Chinese embassy was sure to provide better deals.

They had always wanted to surpass the states in chip technology.

If they could get their hands on this technology, it would not be long before they were able to actualize it.

The technic was pretty simple and it could be figured out easily by a grandmaster linguist but they had to be grandmasters in binary code too.

It was already difficult to reach such proficiency in different languages, let alone in binary code.

That was why he was not afraid that his work would be leaked and did not patent it.

If someone was able to replicate his work, they deserve it.

Daniel was shocked.

He knew very well what Roy had in his hands.

This ability could make him a trillionaire if he was able to do the same in all other areas of computing.

An operating system written purely of binary code was sure to outperform any other system out there.

"10 million dollars!"

He said the exact amount he had access to at the moment.

He was highly valued by the whole country.

If he could not even handle this much, what was he doing in life?

Roy was the one to be stunned now.

He had lived for so many years but had never heard of such a figure let alone see it.

But he did not show any reaction and continued sorting his burger.

One thing he hated about them was how difficult it was to keep the stack intact.

He was poor as F, he did not like wasting the tiny bits.

Daniel thought this reaction was because he was dissatisfied with the price but Roy beat him to it before he could speak.

"Get me land to build a house. It should be in a secluded area but not far from the business district.

Don't worry about accessibility and all that. It just has to be away from the public."

He could indeed ask for more, but he had other things to offer.

It was good to take this opportunity to give Daniel a favor.

Down the road, he might need him to do something for him.

"That is not a problem. The government has been planning to do some maintenance in the urban forest in the city.

I can get 10000 acres for you around the lake."

Hearing this, Roy became somewhat excited.

Land went for 6000 dollars per square foot. And here he was getting 10000 acres?

Who would not get excited?

Especially his poor self.

All he needed was a serene place to build a house for him and his mother.

It did not require so much land.

But this was also good.

He could have more freedom with this.

"Here is my bank account and you can mail me the land deeds and all the other paperwork.

I will give you the algorithm when you have brought them over."

It was not that he did not believe Mr. Daniel, but it was good business practice.

If Daniel got the algorithm before settling everything, he would be too excited and delegate the task to others.

He might end up with a less satisfactory result and regret afterward.

Now that Daniel already agreed, he would personally see to it that everything was settled properly with no issues.

He would even go a step further and settle the tax and all other procedures of acquiring the land and the transfer of the money.

That was 10 million.

If he received such a large amount out of nowhere, he might be questioned.

But if Daniel dealt with everything, he might even ride on his reputation and solve many issues.

Daniel had too much clout. Just sitting with him for a meal must have drawn the attention of other parties.

One might think that he was alone, but Roy was sure more than a dozen people were protecting him from the dark.

After exchanging contacts, Roy hurriedly walked out of the restaurant.

Now that he was sure that he would be getting more money soon, he could spend money to buy a laptop to prepare the program.

It would be embarrassing if Daniel finished his end of the deal only to find out that he did not even have the program.

It was a rather simple program that only required a simple interpreter thus the laptop did not have to be high-end with crazy features.

Daniel watched him leave and a smile of interest formed on his face.

He had seen many young people with towering ambitions and capabilities to match, but they all humbled themselves in front of him.

While it was good and made him feel proud of his height, it made him feel like an old man.

He was not even forty yet.
