Chapter Two

Lord, finally in my last class of the day. Chemistry. Fun, I'm not sure how mixing shit together is ever going to help me in my future. Luckily, Dyani is in this class with me. She sits on the corner of my desk.

"Let's get pizza after school, Chetan."

I stop, trying to get this homework done as well.

"I have practice, remember?"

She rolls her eyes. I swear if I ever marry this girl, I'm going to have my hands full.

"After practice."

I glare at her. I see the other students listening to our conversation, and she knows I can't mention the pack. But I told her, because of course she was accusing me of cheating on her. Girls. I should have never got involved with her. I say that, but I do love her.

"Just tell Kabir, you can't make it." I hear the aggravation in her voice, and I know this is only going to lead to a fight.

"Dyani, he's already working around school and football, and I can't work you into it too." My voice came off a little angrier than it should have, and I was practically yelling at her.

She looks devastated, and I see tears in her eyes. And naturally, I feel like an ass.

She says nothing and walks back towards her desk.

My eyes finally leave my paper. Glazing clock, I realize I still have 5 minutes before the teacher walks in.

I move towards her desk, I walk and kneel beside her.

"I am sorry baby."

She looks at me with those sweet blue eyes, and I realize I haven't been a good boyfriend to my girl. I quickly kiss her cheek.

"Watch me at practice today, huh?"

She smiles. "I can?"

I nod.

"Okay." She seems happier, and that makes me feel better.

I see the teacher walk in and I made my way towards my desk. I know once again I'm going to be in trouble for not getting my homework finished, and I think he's done cutting me slack.

Looking down at my paper, I see it was completed. I could tell it wasn't my handwriting, but the person who did it did a pretty good job making it look sloppy like mine.

I look up and see Kiara smile at me. "Thank you," I mouth to her.

She nods. I seriously want to skip the social ladder and just become her friend.

"Are the boys ready for the game Friday?" Professor Knox asks me.

I nod. "Oh yeah."

All the other students cheered and nodded their heads.

I hear the door open, and another student, Zare, enters the classroom. She was Kiara's twin and entirely different. She was popular, and it wouldn't look out of place for me to speak to her. But I don't. She hangs out with the stoner kids, you know, the ones who think it's cool to pollute their lungs. She definitely moves with the party's crowd, and I know Dyani technically fits in with these kids, but she knows I would never allow her to do drugs. I definitely think I'm the one who keeps her out of trouble, and she's the one who always gets me in trouble.

"Late again Zare," Professor Knox barks at her.

"I am sorry, I just got caught up."

He takes a deep breath. "This is the last time you're going to get caught up, or next time you will be caught up in the principal's office."

She nods and takes her seat. Zare is definitely known for being a bad girl troublemaker. But for some reason, I'm drawn to her, and feel protective over her. I always try to hide my feelings, because we are not friends.

Every werewolf has a mark mate, one person they are crazy about, and once you find that person, your life is never yours. You move around them, your only desire is to protect them. I don't know if Zare is my mate until her first phase. That's when our wolves eyes meant. That's if she's even a wolf, but I know her father was. I suspect she could be my mate, it's the only explanation of why she would stand out to me, cuz I really have nothing to do with her. I don't like the Stoners, and that definitely falls for her boyfriend Brody Owens.

Two weeks earlier.

I pace back and forth. I feel so fucking irritated that Dyani hasn't answered my calls or text. Is she intentionally trying to get under my skin?

Kash,Kabir and Kanan watch me. They are the pack in charge of the Forest right now, three very wise gentlemen.

"You seem on edge, Chetan," Kash tells me.

I nod. " Maybe a little."

"She's a girl, she's probably just doing it intentionally, they know how to get under our skin," Dev tells me.

I laugh. "Yeah probably."

"Where's Ajay?" Kanan asks.

"Him and Nora, are off on some trip," Kabir rolls his eyes.

"They married kind of young, don't you think?" Kash asks.

Kabir laughs. "That's what happens when you find your mark mate young."

Word is Nora isn't too friendly, which is why Ajay doesn't bring her around. I have never seen his wife.

I whip out my phone, texting Dyani for the hundredth time it feels like.

You okay babe, my fingers move across the keys.

"Do you have a show tonight Dev?"

He nods. "Yeah dude, it's going to be awesome. I can't wait to play our new songs."

I nod. "maybe I will go."

"Yeah, that would be lit," he tells me.

A few hours later, I found myself in the club. Dev's friend was able to make us fake IDs, which allowed us to drink. Since our age, we were just shy of the legal age limit. This is a secret that we will definitely keep from Kabir, he would never allow us to do something against the law. I rarely ever use mine, since I don't come with Dev often. Dev, well I hope he leaves the rock star phase soon. I would hate to see him turn into an alcoholic. I mean, I get, it's that social scene of a rock star getting drunk, playing with the band. Don't get me started on the numerous girls he sleeps with after the show.

I see Taylor walking towards me. He was a member of the football team. I smile when I see him, but my smile suddenly fades when he opens his mouth to speak.

"Dyani, make it home okay?" He asks me, analyzing my face I'm sure he saw the shock on mine."

"What are you talking about?"

He looks down. "I probably shouldn't say anything, Chetan."

"Just spit it out."

"She was horribly drunk and high at this party last night. I thought Brody would call you to pick her up."

I know my face flushed with anger. To say I was pissed was an understatement. Dyani knows how I feel about drugs and Bordy.

My ears hear the music play and the crowd growing rowdy. Dev is one hell of a drummer, I love watching the smile appear over his face.
