Steward Lewis stopped his horse in its tracks as his mind worked on the tiny detail that called to him.
He was finally able to piece things together.
‘Master Ryan couldn’t have died so easily if Kobolds had attacked the village. After all, he has one of the Luxem Assassins at his side, and she would have been more than capable of saving him,’ Steward Lewis thought. ‘I don’t know what level that assassin is, but no mother and grandfather would have allowed their beloved child to be in peril. Maybe… there is some chance.’
“Lewis!” Baron Illus growled at him. “What’s with the hold up? I’ll leave you here if you insist to stall me.”
“Coming, Baron Illus,” Steward Lewis replied, snapping back to his senses. Once again, he urged his horse to trot after the Baron and his guards.
