Contrary to Ethan’s expectations, Nicole surprisingly cooked decently.
Of course, she didn’t prepare anything too complicated. It was just fish and chips, which lessened the young man’s anxiety.
“For some reason, it's irritating to see you tense then suddenly relax,” Nicole said after she finished eating. “I’ve been practicing, you know?”
“Um? What are you talking about?” Ethan asked back with a smile. “I was the one who taught you how to cook, so I’ve always believed you could do it well as long as you put your heart and mind into it.”
Nicole gave him the “I don’t believe you” gaze, but Ethan was quick to help her clean the dishes and avoided eye contact as much as possible.
After eating, the two went outside of the tree house and sat under the shade of the tree, leaning on its trunk.
A gentle and refreshing breeze blew past them, making Ethan sigh as he rested his head on Nicole’s lap.
