Hidden secrets

After disappearing for six months, Xunyi finally received Deming's phone call. She was glad he was safe. She didn't ask too many questions regarding why he disappeared on her. He must've his own reasons, she thought. She was positive because she would be able to see him soon. Deming told her that he wasn't able to locate Bolin since he was told that he's out of Shanghai. Alan finally spat out the truth of why he acted that way.

Xunyi wasn't too worried about Bolin, and she wouldn't be surprised if Bolin made his way to London. She told Deming not to worry because she was different now compared to several years ago. Deming wasn't able to tell her that he was threatened by someone. He didn't want her to get worried.

At J&J Law Groups London, Mengshan received a tip overseas that Deming was in contact with Miss Xunyi. This occurred a few days after Xunyi talked to Deming over the phone.

"Get rid of him." Mengshan ordered his people to tail Deming's car. Deming didn't know his car was already manipulated by someone. When he tried to break, he wasn't able to. The car just kept on driving, and suddenly, he made a sharp turn while trying to avoid a truck. His car lost control and collided with another car. He wasn't able to make it out safely. Since it was rainy that night, there weren't too many cars outside.

Deming was unconscious for a few hours until a family of three stopped near where his car was totaled. Since the rain had already stopped, the driver came out and checked the surrounding area. He saw a person who was totally out of it, and he told his wife to call 119 (equivalent to 911 in America). The ambulance arrived after fifteen minutes, and then they took Deming to the nearest hospital.

During this time, Mengshan had enough time to get rid of Deming's parents who were outside of the company at that time. He ordered his people to follow them, and within a few minutes before Deming's collision, Mengshan was successful in killing two people. They were struck by an SUV and immediately died on the spot. Mengshan also ordered someone to not make this as the headline news. He wanted to be hidden from the public.

Mengshan sat in his office while playing with a ballpoint pen with his fingers. He chuckled to himself and eventually laughed. Jenny, who was in there, wouldn't dare to say anything. She watched as Mengshan laughed, but on the inside, she wanted revenge. She may look timid, but she was the one who warned Deming about Miss Xunyi. Her own story was a tragic one as well. Twelve years ago, Mengshan found her beside her dead parents after the car accident. He looked at the weak and timid little girl and chuckled, "Little girl. From now on, you will be with me. Don't think about running away because you can't. Your name will be Jenny from now on. Repeat after me, and my name is Jenny."

"My...name... is... J...Jenny." The little girl stuttered as she was clearly afraid.

"Good job, Jenny. From now on, you will work for me. Bring her back." He ordered his men and took Jenny into his custody without notifying the police.

"Burn them all up." Mengshan ordered his people to burn up the car. Jenny's parents were burned to death. He hid their death from the public as well. Since his parents spoiled him, they were able to hide their son's crimes, even hiding it from Jiang Yuhan, their eldest son.

Back in the company, Xunyi worked hard on her job, and she completed everything that Mengshan told her to do. But she didn't know that the things she worked on eventually helped Mengshan in killing Deming's parents and causing harm to Deming as well.

A few years had passed since the incident, and Xunyi was ready to travel back to Shanghai. On the day before she left, Jenny wanted to discuss something with her. They met at a cafe that was a bit far from the company and both of them ordered a small cafe latte. Jenny brought out her ipad and her phone since she wasn't allowed to take anything out of the company.

"Miss Xunyi, I came here to talk because it's not convenient to talk inside the company. This information that you helped Lawyer Jiang with is not what a legal interns is supposed to do. But I understand that you didn't know, but this information helped him to get away with a recent murder just a few years ago." Jenny showed the files that Xunyi worked on in the past.

"What? I helped him murdering someone? How?" Xunyi was on edge, and her whole brain was a mess.

"Miss Xunyi, I understand this is a little confusing, but remember the documents that he gave you just a few days before his brother's son called you?"

"I think I remember. It was a huge pile."

"Inside the pile of paper, do you remember reading this section?"

"Oh right, he told me to research something he needed. I don't remember what it was."

"That's okay, but as long as you know. But right now, Miss Xunyi, we must stop Lawyer Jiang. To tell you the truth, I overheard that he murdered his brother and his wife, but this information is hidden from the public. Miss Xunyi, I understand this is a lot of information to digest, but I suggest you read these files because we need to bring him down. We need to be careful of police in London, some of them work for Mengshan." Jenny told Xunyi out of concern.

"Deming's parents were murdered? Is he okay?" Xunyi was worried about him.

"I don't know. I don't remember hearing anything about him." Jenny replied.

"Jenny, thank you for telling me. I'll go find him after I go back. Can you send those files to me? We'll keep in touch!" Xunyi was ready to leave, but Jenny said, "Wait!"

"We'll communicate through this flip phone. Our current phone could be tracked." Jenny gave her a flip phone, and Xunyi nodded, "Talk to you soon!" Jenny got up and hugged Xunyi, "Thank you for helping me. I'm glad I got someone to help me."

"I don't know what to say, I don't even want to believe that he killed someone. But he is a murderer so we need to bring him down. Jenny, thank you for telling me the truth. Since I'm not working for him anymore, you need to be careful. Whatever you could find, please let me know. We'll work together." Xunyi replied.

Xunyi was able to get out of Mengshan's grasp after handing him her resignation letter explaining she needed to spend more time with her grandparents in China so she wouldn't able to work with him. She didn't mention Deming out of caution. Mengshan couldn't do anything at that time since the head of HR was talking to him, so he agreed for her to leave. Since her contract with him is over, she will have nothing to do with his company anymore. But for Xunyi, she will be able to work at the Shanghai branch because of her experience in the London branch. Her schooling will have to continue online, but she was grateful to be given a time off.
