99 percent father-daughter relationship

Kathleen held the pendant and even after looking at it for a while, didn't see any line, until Elizabeth pointed out an inconspicuous thin line. At the end of it was indeed the indent she spoke about.

She took out a pin from the table and with the sharp end of the pin, she gave a slight push into the indent at the end of the line and the pendant opened to reveal a half cut purple ring.

It's needless to say that Kathleen was speechless because it was simply incredible.

"You might be wondering how I got to know all these, my child."

"Mm hmm," Kathleen nodded still in a trance.

"I am a Jewel designer and go by the name Ellee."

"Holy cow! You can't possibly be joking, right?" Kathleen was so excited that it was extremely difficult for her to sit still at the moment.

"Don't tell me you are Ellee, the number one jeweler that everyone has been talking about."

"I am indeed one and the same person," Elizabeth affirmed, smiling softly, "but I don't think I am that awesome."

"You must be kidding me. If you are not awesome, then who is?" Kathleen's eyes were glinting with admiration.

"Let's forget about that," Elizabeth dismissed with a wave of the hand. Kathleen's behavior was not strange to her. People have always behaved like that whenever they found out she was Ellee.

"Twenty four years ago, I was diagnosed with a terminal disease and was told I had only six months to live," she began.

"I was so troubled when I came out of the hospital that I didn't know when I walked straight to the middle of the road and nearly got knocked down by a car, but a young lady out of nowhere saved me."

"I later found out she was a medical doctor but majoring in alternative medicine."

"Through her I was able to come back to life again as you can see, and we became best of friends afterwards."

"I'm sure you will be thinking, what connection has this got to do with your Jade pendant?"

"Mmm hmm" Kathleen nodded absentmindedly, already engrossed in the story.

"Three years later, my friend fell in love with some guy and traveled out of the country with him. When she returned, she told me she was married and pregnant. Sure enough, I was angry at her; not for getting pregnant but for not informing me about her marriage as her best friend. I felt I meant nothing to her."

"She apologized sincerely and I only agreed to forgive her on the condition that I become the godmother of the twins she was expecting which she readily agreed to."

"When the children were born, I personally designed a pair of Jade pendants as my gift to them during their christening."

By now Kathleen had a vague idea of where the story was headed and her breathing was coming in short gasps as she anxiously waited for Elizabeth to get to the climax of the story.

"The one you're holding happens to be one of them. I specifically engraved the babies initials on each of them."

Kathleen's hands wouldn't stop shaking as she peered at the pendant to study the ring in it again.

There it was written boldly- 'JRW'

"I believe you've seen it," Elizabeth asked. it sounded more like a statement than a question.

"JRW, stands for Jason Robin Wyatt and Janice Robin Wyatt. Those were the names of the babies."

"Unfortunately, exactly two weeks after the christening of the babies, there was a mysterious fire outbreak in the manor where my friend lived with her husband and one of the babies was stolen."

"She was so heartbroken after the incident that she withdrew from the public circle, dedicating her life to raising her only surviving son."

"I still do not get it. Do… do you think I'm…I'm . the missing dau… daughter of your friend?" Kathleen stammered in a daze, her words almost incoherent.

Elizabeth took a deep breath before she continued.

"Kathleen," she reached out, taking her two hands again, her gaze never leaving Kathleen's face, "if you can remember, when we first met after the crash, I was struck by the strangeness of your eyes and even made a comment about it."

"Yes, yes, I do. Not only you, but Professor Gaius equally did the same, I can't forget the bewildered expression he had then."

"When the babies were born, the girl's eye had such a unique colour that drew the admiration of everyone that beheld them. They were a beautiful purple, same as your eye colour which happens to also be the same as that of my friend's eyes."

Kathleen seem to have been trànsfixed and the air around her completely sucked up as she stared into space with wide eyes, unable to process what she just heard.

"I still had my doubts though about you being the daughter of my friend, but it was cleared after I met with Professor Gaius," Aunt Elizabeth's voice filtered in through Kathleen's thoughts.

"You asked earlier what I always have to discuss with professor Gaius."

"From the first test you had when you were admitted in the hospital, it was revealed that you had an unusual blood group: Rh- null known as the Golden blood."

"According to him, there are very few people, less than fifty in the entire world, that have been reported as having such blood."

"It so happens that he knew one of them and it turned out to be the husband of my dear friend."

'That explains the reason why he was interested in my case back then. It made sense now.' Kathleen mumbled to herself.

"However," continued Elizabeth, "that was not enough proof to conclude that you were related, so we did a DNA test without your knowledge because we didn't want to raise your hopes or that of the other party.

"And…" the tiny soft hair across Kathleen's body were practically standing on ends now.

"The report showed 99.9 percent of a daughter-father relationship."

Kathleen's hands were slowly rising as she pointed, barely able to complete a single sentence, "You….you… mean… you found my real… parents?"

Just then, the door opened and the butler came in, following closely behind him were a man and a woman.

One look at them and Kathleen's stomach suddenly contracted into a tight ball, she felt something gushing out from her private part down her legs to the floor.
