CHAPTER FOURTY FIVE: CHOSEN ONES?

In the tranquil atmosphere of the dorm rooms, the students gathered to relax and engage in heartfelt discussions about the events that had unfolded throughout the day. Lyra, sitting comfortably on her bed, took the initiative to initiate a conversation with her roommates, eager to delve into the rich tapestry of their experiences. The room buzzed with a mixture of excitement and exhaustion, as their voices filled the air with animated chatter.

"So, can you believe the power tests we witnessed today?" Lyra exclaimed, her eyes shimmering with enthusiasm. "I never expected to witness such awe-inspiring displays of strength from our fellow classmates. It's as if we're surrounded by a legion of hidden warriors, ready to unleash their true potential!"

Her roommates chuckled in agreement, their faces mirroring a combination of awe and wonder Mia, one of Lyra's roommates, chimed in, "I was completely blown away by that Misthaven guy's power. It was like witnessing a force of nature in action, untamed and wild. And did you see how he claimed a table for himself at lunch? Talk about making a statement!"

Emma, another roommate, nodded in agreement. "Absolutely! And let's not forget about our homeroom teacher, Ms. Selina Lawson . The way she commanded the room with her authoritative presence, it was both inspiring and slightly intimidating. I have a feeling she's going to push us to our limits and challenge us in ways we never thought possible."

Lyra's eyes sparkled as she recalled her initial impression of Ms. Lawson. "Indeed. she may come across as strict and no-nonsense, but deep down, I sense her genuine dedication to helping us grow. We're here to learn and expand our horizons, and I believe he's the perfect guide to push us beyond our perceived limitations." They marveled at the sheer magnitude of power displayed, discussing how it inspired their own aspirations and goals.

"But you know," Lyra interjected, her voice brimming with determination, "we shouldn't let ourselves be overshadowed or intimidated by their power. Each one of us possesses our own unique potential and abilities. While we may not be as powerful as some of the seniors, it doesn't diminish our capacity to strive and become the best versions of ourselves."

Her roommates nodded in agreement. They shared stories of their own power tests, exchanging experiences and insights. The room resonated with a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation as they realized that their journey had only just begun.

As the night deepened and the conversation gradually wound down. The tranquility of the dorms settled in, accompanied by the gentle whispers of dreams and ambitions. The roommates bid each other goodnight, their minds buzzing with aspirations for growth and achievement. They understood that tomorrow would bring new challenges and opportunities, and they were ready to face them with unwavering determination. The students drifted off to sleep, embracing the dreams of a brighter future that lay ahead. They knew that the journey they had embarked upon was one of discovery, self-improvement, and forging bonds that would last a lifetime.

Meanwhile, in a secluded part of the Equilibrium Hall, in a large expanse of land covered with trees and vegetation just like any other forested region hooded figures moved with speed and grace completely covered by the shrubs. They keep moving at light speed covering the distance of the entire forested region in a few seconds. They get to a particular clearing and halt; they remove their hoods and run towards a particular part of the clearing as they vanish one by one like they were not there seconds ago.

In a spacious office within the Equilibrium Hall, a man with fiery red hair and a large build, Jake Ashenbrook, the school head, held a meeting with five other individuals, the administrative heads. They discussed the report presented by Kane, the teacher responsible for the power tests.

"As you can see from this report, these new students possess remarkable power," Jake remarked, scanning the pages. "It seems we have a truly exceptional group this year. From the report you have here Kane, we, you all have a lot of work to do. This ones are more powerful than their predecessors. I'll need you to….." he suddenly stops as he looks up, "They are here".

The meeting was interrupted as five individuals abruptly fell into the room, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. One of them, Natalia, expressed confusion about the unconventional entrance to the office. "I still do not get why supreme head has to make his office this twisted to get to."

"You should have gotten used to It, Natalia." Jake said cynically as he looked at Natalia, who immediately looks down, not daring to look him in the eye. "Take a seat" Jake said as they all sat down. The group took their seats, and Jake called upon Kane to address the extraordinary potential exhibited by the new students to the homeroom teachers. Kane stood up and shared his insights; "as you all know my ways of testing the new students, I always bear the full brunt of their attacks and I have felt their powers and I have a feeling that this set will make an outstanding change. I am sure that the famed chosen ones are among these ones". The room fell into silence as the weight of Kane's words settled in. Henrik breaks the silence, seeking clarification. "Are you suggesting that we should be on the lookout for the chosen ones?"

Jake nodded solemnly as he looked at everyone then staring intently at Natalia. "Indeed. It is crucial that we scrutinize each and every student carefully. We must put forth our best efforts to guide and nurture them. Our mission is to ensure the safety and development of humanity."

Natalia, feeling singled out, pouted and voiced her discontent. "Why are you staring at me like that, I am committed." Jake gets up as he walks towards Natalia; he released his energy filling up the room with a gentle like glow, the other guys gulped as they knew that the soothing energy was just a façade. He walks to Natalia who was almost trembling, he places his hand on her head as he released more of his energy surrounding the entire room, he lets his energy enter her head, Natalia stayed still too scared to resist. The energy permeates the entire space causing a lotus pattern to appear on their heads as they all felt their minds relax. "You are all too tense," he said, his voice resonating with authority. "Now, go and fulfill your responsibilities for the sake of our students and humanity."

As Jake returned to his seat, the energy dissipated, leaving a sense of calm in the air. With a final word of advice to Natalia, the meeting was adjourned. The group departed, their minds filled with what just happened.  Ayanna sighs heavily as she says "Thank heavens, for a moment I thought Natalia was going to have for sure". They all nod knowing well that things could've gone south. They understood the weight of their roles and the importance of their duties in shaping the future of the students and the world they lived in. They stood on a particular rune like inscription which transported out of the office. As they left the office, each person carried a renewed determination to fulfill their responsibilities with diligence and care.
