"Oh, boy!" Jack exclaimed with a strange smile. He felt a surge of amusement, but he quickly stifled his laughter, realizing that the situation was growing serious. Two groups were on the brink of a clash, and tension hung in the air.
On the right side stood a group of ten men, their ragged clothing reminiscent of beggars. Despite their humble appearance, each of them held a weapon, ranging from knives to blades. It was clear that these people had not received any formal education because of the crude manner in which they carried themselves.
Meanwhile, on the left side, there was a stark contrast. Five men, distinct in their attire, piqued Jack's curiosity. They wore plain white clothes with red coats that reached only their waist, adorned with a small circle on their chests and a symbol unfamiliar to Jack.
Whispering as quietly as possible, Jack asked Eyses, "What do you think of their clothes?"
The watch replied, offering insights based on the question. "Their attire resembles that of Martial Artists from Ancient China. The symbol on their chests appears similar to the word 'Li,' often associated with wisdom, strength, and resilience. Nevertheless, additional engagement with them and a better comprehension of their language are necessary in order to confirm these observations."
Jack nodded with a serious expression, but his attention was captivated by the carriage guarded by the five peculiarly dressed men. The carriage exuded an aura of wealth and prestige, intriguing him. Though he couldn't fully comprehend its significance, he sensed the unmistakable feeling of prosperity emanating from it.
Suddenly, the curtain that concealed the carriage's interior was drawn back, revealing a graceful woman. She emerged from the carriage, stunning everyone in her presence. With long black hair elegantly tied into a ponytail and deep, captivating brown eyes, she exuded an air of strength, determination, and wisdom. Her slender frame evoked agility and grace.
However, Jack's thoughts were focused on a singular notion. "Wait a minute. Isn't this the perfect opportunity for a hero to save a damsel in distress?"
Regrettably, Eyses, devoid of human emotions, misunderstood Jack's intent. "I haven't received information about this personality. Would you like to add this preference to your persona, so I can offer a solution that aligns with it?"
Jack's eyebrows twitched. He expanded his statement by saying, "I'm not referring to becoming a hero or admiring her beauty alone. Although, I must admit, she is indeed beautiful. My point is, wouldn't it be advantageous if I were to assist her in this situation?"
"Looking at that cart, I have the impression that they come from an affluent family. If we can gain the connection through this simple exchange, we can get an audience and probably cooperation. Won't we get more manpower to search for oil as well as the resources and land to extract it? It's impossible for me to gather all ten billion barrels alone. So, getting easy cooperation will surely fasten my pace."
After giving Jack's line of reasoning some thought, Eyses responded, "You make a valid point. In that case, I suggest learning their language and adopting a name similar to theirs."
"While you are talking, Eyses is actively listening to the other party and analyzing the language they use. It shares around a 90% degree of resemblance with the simplified Chinese used today. Eyses can assist with speaking and listening, but writing may require your own efforts. If you decide to help them, please take these factors into consideration."
Li Ming fell into a brief silence before asking, "In that case, what do you believe would be the perfect name for me?"
"I propose the name Li Ming. Li represents the symbol you observed on their crest, and Ming symbolizes brightness and clarity, reflecting your ability to swiftly navigate through confusion. Overall, the name signifies your determination and resilience," Eyses suggested.
"Alright, I'll adopt that name," Jack, now Li Ming, smiled with confidence. The name struck a chord with him and seemed to encapsulate all of the characteristics that he desired to exhibit in his new role.
"Updating the information. Jack Thompson will now be referred to as Li Ming," Eyses announced, adjusting its database accordingly.
Without hesitation, Li Ming prepared himself. Raising his rifle, he took aim at the approaching groups. "It seems that this world follows the rule of the jungle, but until I learn more, I should incapacitate them rather than resort to lethal force," Li Ming thought, adjusting his aim toward their legs. The imminent clash between the two groups heightened the tension in the air.
At the command to charge, Li Ming swiftly pulled the triggers.
Bang! Bang!
The gunshots rang out, finding their marks as two men were struck directly in their thighs. They were writhing in pain as they fell to the ground, gripping their injured limbs and letting out screams of agony as they did so.
"Aaaahhhh!"
The thunderous roar immediately frightened the surviving members of both parties, which temporarily diverted their focus from the imminent clash that was about to take place.
"Hehe. Surprised, aren't you? Oh, how I love having guns," Li Ming thought with a hidden grin.
He initially planned to shoot a few more to increase his contribution, but his attention was diverted when he witnessed the beautiful woman skillfully kick one bandit's hand, knocking his blade off. With skillful precision, she swiftly grabbed the sword mid-air and began slashing at those nearby. Her movements were swift and deadly, each strike delivering a fatal blow. Yet, despite her ruthless actions, her expression remained neutral, and her grace was evident in her every move. She single-handedly put an end to the fight in a matter of seconds, leaving all eight of the surviving robbers lying dead on the ground.
Li Ming's eyebrows twitched, and he couldn't help but remark, "Save a damsel in distress? What distress?"
There was simply no need for help as the woman could handle everything by herself, let alone the fact that there were five muscular men that could help her. t
