Chapter 31: Giving Chase

Blaise's voice rang out, filled with concern. "Lucien, wait! What are you doing?"

Lucien spared Blaise and Amelia a quick glance. "Make sure Amelia is safe," he commanded. "I can't let Frederick escape. I'm going to kill him."

With that, Lucien leaped out the window, the cool night air rushing past him as he plunged into the unknown, his mind focused solely on killing Frederick.

His feet touched the ground with cat-like grace, and he wasted no time, charging forward, following the vampire's footprints in the mud through the darkness.

The moon cast a bright glow on the path ahead as Lucien followed Frederick's retreating figure. They raced through the shadows, the paths of the mansion a blur of cobblestones and dark trees. Lucien pushed his aching body to its limits, his breath coming in ragged gasps, but he refused to yield.
