Chapter 13: A Forgery?

Lucien stared at the crumpled note, its words etched into his mind like a haunting melody. 'How could I have been so foolish?' he thought, sinking into the chair at Blaise's desk. He sighed, the weight of disappointment settling heavily upon his shoulders. Why had he given his heart so willingly, knowing it would only lead to pain?

'Why did I let myself believe in something that was never meant to be?' Lucien thought as his fingers traced the faded ink of the note. He knew he couldn't easily shake off his feelings for Blaise, no matter how much his rational mind urged him to let go. The truth was, love didn't conform to reason or logic.

With a heavy heart, Lucien realized he had no choice but to relinquish his hopes of a future with Blaise. The realization only deepened the sorrow within him. Yet, he couldn't bear the thought of sinking into another abyss of heartache. It hurt much worse than the first time. 'I won't allow myself to be consumed by this again,' he resolved bleakly.
