Lucien's heart raced. Why was he here? Lucien threw the dart, and it didn't even hit the target at all.
"What's gotten into you?" Troy scoffed. "You're making it easy for me."
"Maisy, Troy, I just spotted an old friend over there," Lucien said, gesturing vaguely towards the crowd. "I'll catch up with you guys later, okay?"
Maisy's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Oh, really? Who is it? Do we know them too?"
Lucien hesitated, not wanting to involve Maisy and Troy in the dangerous situation unfolding. "It's someone from my past, I really don't think you know him. We're just catching up on old times. You two go on and enjoy the festival. I'll be fine."
Troy frowned, sensing something amiss. "Are you sure, Lucien? You seem a bit... off. Is everything okay?"
Lucien forced a smile, his mind racing. "Yeah, I'm just a bit distracted. Nothing to worry about. Go on, have fun."
Reluctantly, Maisy and Troy nodded, their expressions filled with concern. They exchanged glances.
