On the way to new Home (1)

Away from the Wanky's, as the black and gold-streaked Rolls-Royce steadily left the premises of the Reveal Studio, the car's occupants had no idea of the commotion they had caused or, instead, the commotion that Mrs Trimshaw had caused all around Milas, 2ndMilas and even beyond that. Though Thalia Mirabel could care less about it, even if she knew.

Thalia Mirabel had relaxed in the car's back seat with her six-year-old son, Collin Tony Thebes, nestled in her arms. Her son was her joy, and she would move the world for him if she could.

"Mummy,"

"Uh huh?"

"Where are we going now?"

Thalia Mirabel pulled him closer and whispered, "We talked about this, remember? We are going to our new home,"

"Yes, I remember!" he piped in his small attempt at a cheerful voice. It was sad to listen to.

Jake, the assistant, who sat in the front passenger seat, and their designated driver shared a look of understanding but couldn't help straining their ears to listen in to the mother and son duo more.

"Do you not like it, baby?" Thalia Mirabel probed more and turned the Collin so that she could study his facial expressions. Marriage was a big step in her life, and she had already had that conversation with her son to make sure that he was mentally prepared for it, even though that conversation had taken place after she had signed the contract. Her son was mature for his age, so he had understood, but a child would always remain that … a child!

Just a week prior, she did not even have her freedom, and she was delighted that she now had the time to spend with her baby boy after all the time they spent apart. Only the heavens knew how she had missed him during her time away.

Collin Tony Thebes scrunched up his little face in concentration, but it was but a few seconds when he gave his mother an answer that had Jake whipping his head around to look at the boy.

"I'm okay with it if you are there, mummy! I will go wherever you are!" his childish voice sounded so adult-like when he spoke those words.

However, it wasn't the tone of his voice, but the words that had the driver, Eric Moss, almost lose concentration in his driving as tears threatened to fall from his eyes. The child's words indicated that he did not care about anything as long as his mother was there, and she was okay; he did not think about himself one bit!

This was Eric's first day at his job, and he was grateful to the new Mrs Trimshaw for his job. He did not care about where she had been or whether she had a child already.

People worried about the wrong things in life, especially things that had nothing to do with them. Eric liked to stay within the confines of his work.

All these had nothing to do with Eric's job, but he appreciated the fact that he had been hired exclusively for her. The pay that Mr Trimshaw had offered was super and none that he would ever get anywhere else, so he was there to see his task through and through.

However detached Eric tried to be, the words that Collin had spoken to his mother had a depth not often heard from any child, but they were not the words that could cause someone to shed tears… well, except for Eric, for he was known to be a cry-baby.

This and his short pot-bellied stature created a ridiculousness in the minds of anyone that met him. Eric took one hand from the steering wheel to wipe his tears. However, Eric Moss had a heart of gold and was the best professional driver anyone could ask for. Thalia Mirabel would only come to know of this much later.

As soon as Collin had spoken, his mother, Thalia Mirabel, hugged him, and a sad look crossed her face. No child should ever go through what her son had and not even engage in such thoughts.

She had missed most of her child's growth and had no intention of missing any more of his growth into adulthood. There was nothing Thalia Mirabel could do but love her child and love him more to try to counter the insecurities that he seemed to have picked up through no fault of his.

Thalia Mirabel cuddled Collin closer to her and called out, "Jake?"

"Yes, ma'am," Jake promptly responded,

"What was the purpose of making me memorise those details for the show?"

Jake hesitated in answering as he squirmed in his seat. His new mistress was indeed a straightforward person! They had given her a script of some needed details and told her that it was her first appearance in public as Mrs Trimshaw.

They had also emphasised that it was one of the tasks and part of the marriage contract signed, so she had had no option but to be there, but whatever she had memorised had nothing to do with the show, and that is why she had screwed them over by letting the public know about the contract when there had been no need to.

"I-" the sound of his phone ringing interrupted Jake just as he was about to give out an 'explanation.'

'…saved by the bell!' Jake thought and quickly picked up the phone after seeing the caller ID.

"Mrs Trimshaw?" Jake called out to her politely after he was done with his call. Thalia Mirabel's heart skipped a beat, for she was not used to this way of being addressed… once upon a time, Thalia Mirabel would have wished to be called Mrs Wanky, but that name seemed to now belong to another world and another time and probably, another person.

She sighed and stroked the thick brown hair of her son, Collin, who was still nestled against her. At least one good thing came out of that complicated relationship… a deadly look flashed over Thalia Mirabel's eyes so fast that Jake thought he had imagined it…

Mrs Trimshaw? He had called her multiple times by now before he was able to draw her attention.

He wondered what she had been thinking of…
