His Worldview (2)

That was the onset of Jorge's abnormality. At first, Mirabel had thought that it was a one-day thing that had been triggered unexpectedly. However, she was in for a rude awakening. Over the span of a few days, Jorge got clingier and weirder. It was as if a faucet had been opened and the tap handle had broken off.

There was no pause, and there had been no warning at all, at least from Mirabel's point of view. Even if it had existed, the symptoms had been small and inconspicuous enough that few people had noticed them.

The thing was that Jorge's inner 'fears', if we could call them that, had been triggered after he saw his mother that day. It was as if he had unknowingly suppressed a part of himself that had suddenly surged to the surface, leaving him a tad helpless. A subtle paranoia seemed to have crept into his very essence in his everyday life.
