Finer Details

"What do you mean he will be working with us!? He is a suicidal maniac!" Edith exclaimed.

"It will be fine," Alex said, "Everything will turn out fine." He was the only one still smiling in the room.

"Alex, I know that you are all about second chances and helping people, but isn't it dangerous to put him in the same room as Terra?" Cyrus had asked.

"Don't worry about that Cyrus, it's not like he can become the representative anyway. Terra was already chosen so it can't be changed." Alex said with confidence.

"Lucky bastard!" Dawn tried to say as low as possible but it was still audible for everyone in the room.

Cyrus had taken note of what Alex had said, 'He can't become the representative anyway.' There was no stutter when he said this, no twitch no reaction at all. What he had said just now contradicted what Ariel had told him, 'If Terra dies while still on Earth, then another representative would be chosen.'

It meant that either Alex had a way of making sure that Dawn specifically would not be chosen if such an event were to pass by, which would be strange seeing as how only the planet gets to decide who is chosen or not, or that Alex had lied to them for the first time ever.

And if Alex could lie about this, then what else could he lie about? Cyrus was put in a position where he could not ask lest he reveal himself to have inside information that he shouldn't know about. He would keep quiet for now. Observing and waiting.

"Well, Terra I don't know what makes you so surprised. Surely you didn't think that Vito was the only one who wanted you dead? A lot of people would want that position." Alex said.

He was merely doing this to get everyone to try and open up a little towards Dawn by realizing that Vito at one point had tried the same thing and yet he was still welcomed here.

Dawn hearing this was intrigued. 'Is there someone else like me?' he thought.

"Wait! You wanted this bastard dead too?" he said to Vito while simultaneously pointing at Terra. He had stood up in excitement as he said this and it caused the table to vibrate and Edith spilled her drink.

She was about to stand up to teach him a lesson and then Cyrus placed a hand on her shoulder to keep her still. He then handed her a napkin and using a spare one that he had, he wiped away some juice that fell on her face. She remained calm.

"Dawn, mind your language," Alex said referring to the term bastard that had been used twice in this house.

"Argh! Alright, I will!" Dawn said to Alex, "You and your dumb rules," he tried to whisper.

Anyways, "You wanted to kill him too! Right? Right?" He said looking eagerly at Vito.

Vito was astonished. He never expected that he would one day interest someone this much simply because of attempted murder. It was a unique feeling of pride and being messed up. He definitely would like to avoid this in the future.

"Yes, I did try to kill him, came pretty close too." Vito finally said as he was still feeling uneasy about being in this situation.

This conversation to him was about as good as a serial killer and a murderer by chance meeting up in a graveyard to bury bodies and talking about their experiences of how they got here. One more enthusiastic than the other.

"Really?" Dawn said, "Who stopped you?? Was it, Alex? or maybe John? or maybe one of the two female servants that were hanging around each other? Maybe both of them!? or some other servant who was there?"

"Actually," Vito said nervously, "It was Cyrus over there!" he pointed toward Cyrus who was sitting next to a semi-pissed-off Edith. Cyrus smiled at him and said, "Hey!" with a wink.

Dawn took the whole thing in as he stared at Cyrus in the eyes.

He looked around to see if anyone would interject, or say something that meant that Vito was just fooling around but no! No one said anything, Terra was even nodding his head in agreement with what Vito had said.

Dawn seeing this was heavily disappointed and said, "Oh! you just suck!" He stood up from his seat and walked away. Carrying a slice of pizza on his plate and the remaining juice in the bottle.

Edith already had her fill so she didn't mind this but Cyrus was half worried that at any second she would jump up and tackle him.

Vito hearing this was actually pretty hurt. Even if you aren't trying to impress someone, hearing them call your efforts trash is never really a good thing for self-confidence.

"I should have done better," he mumbled lowly and then he thought to himself, 'Wait! What am I saying? It's not like I care about what he thinks anyway!' But still, those words had hurt him and he knew it.

"No one cares what you think!" Edith yelled as he left the room. She hadn't done this for anyone in particular, she just didn't like him much but this little action had made Vito feel better without her realizing it.

"Don't worry about him, he is harmless. I took some precautions, he will not harm anyone of you under the guidance of me or anyone of the servants that will be available. He is here for rehabilitation. He has been through a lot, so he is different. I hope you can try to make friends with him. He has been very lonely for quite some time." When Alex said those last words there was a trace of sadness in his voice.

It was very noticeable.

Terra could relate to the last words that Alex said. he knew what it was like to be alone so part of him wanted to give Dawn the benefit of the doubt. Part of him really did.

"I don't mind. If he is anything like Vito then I can keep him in line." Cyrus said as he grabbed the attention of Alex.

"Hey!" Vito complained in the background.

"Well, it is true! Even I believe I could take you," Terra chimed in and this had caused a small laugh from Edith.

Vito was not pleased but kept himself calm.

'I'll remember this.' he thought.

"Besides, I don't think that Alex would ever LIE to us or do anything that would bring us harm. It seems out of character for him. He is an honest man after all." Cyrus finished off as he looked towards Alex for any reaction at all.

Alex thought to himself, 'What did she say to him? It seems Cyrus has some distrust towards me and the one person I can think about who would cause this is Ariel. It seems I should change my schedule for when next I will see her.'

"Of course not Cyrus, you can trust me."

Cyrus tried to read Alex, anything, Any reaction at all but there was none. It was a bit worrisome that he had met someone he could not read.

'I guess I should polish my skills some more.' he thought.

"Well, everyone, It has been nice speaking with you, I will be taking my leave but I shall return eventually. John will be in charge and when he is busy, Mint or Sasha shall take his place. I can always rely on these three to get a job done well."

"Before you leave Alex" Cyrus spoke up, "I am curious. Is John truly a servant of yours? I did not see him at the hotel we had gathered at."

Alex looked at Cyrus impressed, there were over a hundred servants gathered at the hotel, over 200 to be specific but yet Cyrus was certain that John was not one of them.

"You surprise me every time Cyrus, yes, he was not present at the hotel. He was doing business with Ariel at that time so he was too occupied to attend. But rest assured he is one of my most trusted. Today will be a free day so you can have enough energy for tomorrow. I wish you all a pleasant experience here."

With a smile, Alex got up and walked out back to the hallway where John had left. To obtain his things.

With all that being said and done the group had found themselves with nothing to do. Alex had left and they would not start their training or missions until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Cyrus was thinking to himself, 'What type of business would a servant of Alex have with Ariel?'

"Alright, who wants to go exploring?" Edith asked as she shook Cyrus lightly taking him out of his trace.

"But we already did," he said to her.

"Yeah, but we split up, this time I have something to show you guys." The enthusiasm could be felt within the room, whatever she was excited about, she would not let it go until everyone had seen it.

"I'm down," Terra said.

"Me too, it will be fun and this place is really big. I also have places I wanna so you." Vito contributed.

Cyrus was kind of tired of it all, they were all getting so excited while he was trying to figure out the possible connections between Alex and Ariel. In the end, the majority won, and they started dragging Cyrus along with them before he could answer them.

"Alright, alright, let go of me!" he yelled but it was useless. They were now carrying him like a sack of potatoes down the stairs as he tried to wiggle around to be free.

Meanwhile, in the room that John was in, Alex had finally stepped inside to grab his things.

"It seems the kids have all agreed to join us, this came as a surprise on my part, I expected at least one of them to refuse," John said.

"It was surprising indeed, but it definitely puts a smile on my face knowing that things will be easier than expected. Though I do wish the others that were selected would be joining them as well." Alex replied.

"By the way, I would like to make a report Alex."

"Go on," Alex said while grabbing his suitcase and preparing himself to leave.

"When Cyrus and Edith had split, I had thought it would be better to have one the newer male servants to test her, as an experience for him. I expected him to be quite capable of this. The resulting matter was that he suffered 1 broken arm and a slight concussion." John had said and it left Alex stunned.

"Did he touch her?" he asked.

"Quite the contrary, he kept his distance for he was nervous that he would intimidate her too much, and in doing so, she had run up to him and attacked him first. Luckily he was able to explain to her that it was all a test before she could break something else."

"This all took place in that special room, down the stairs," he added.

Alex took this information in for a moment and then put on a smile, "None of the kids that were selected by the Earth have lived a normal life. It seems they all had special upbringings, some more so than others. I am glad to know that they can protect themselves."

"And where are you off to this time, if I may ask?" John said.

"You are well aware that the world is in shambles right now, I need to go and calm them down if only for a little bit to prepare them for the announcement that Terra Vian has been chosen to represent them."

"Won't that be dangerous? You know that the world cannot agree on a matter like this one. Many people will be unhappy about this." John asked concerned for the well-being of Alex.

"Don't worry, I have everything I need to have a calm conversation with the people," Alex said as he grabbed the handle of the suitcase tightly.

"Besides, the most dangerous situation that could ever happen is them being stuck in a room with me. Take care of the kids, it seems this might take a little while."

At that moment a portal had opened in the room and a massive gust of wind could be felt blowing into the room, Alex walked right through and disappeared from the scene. John was left standing there alone and he couldn't help but admire the man who just walked out to face the world.

"It seems I chose the right person to follow. Now as for those kids, I better start preparing their first mission with me."
