Making Things Right

Terra, Vito, and Cyrus would all be sharing the same sleeping quarters.

The room where they first woke up was also the room where Alex teleported them in.

The boys were getting ready to sleep as they had an eventful day tomorrow. Their first mission. They were all excited and drained at the same time. They needed to rest.

Walking into the room they all decided to sleep on the same bed where they had woken up, which left 2 beds unoccupied. The one where Edith had slept and the one that was facing towards the door.

"I wonder why there are 5 beds in this room, even with Dawn there are only 4 of us who could sleep here, wait! They didn't mean to say that Edith was going to sleep with us, was she?" Terra had asked while jumping into his bed.

"I doubt it, the most likely situation is that the other members who were supposed to join are too busy to take up the beds that were prepared for them so that just leaves us with extra bed space," Cyrus explained while tucking his pillow a little roughly. He prefers it soft.

"I see, I for one thought we were all going to share a room, that was until Edith had to leave. It made sense to me because we were all teleported to this room in the beginning," Vito added in.

"You would like that idea wouldn't you?" Cyrus smirked as he put his glasses into a small drawer next to his bed.

"Shut up Cyrus!" Vito said but it wasn't as threatening or manly as he would have wanted it to be. Terra laughed at this little dispute between the two and the thought of going to space started to sink in when he looked out the window.

The room was big with 4 beds facing each other, as for the one that was facing the door, it had a huge glass wall behind it shaped in swirly patterns but with enough space that multiple people could admire the stars at night without having to go out and view the sun rise and light up their room.

"You know, I know said that I wanted to go and everything but it is a little scary when I think about it," Terra said with a low dis-hearted voice.

"I just, don't know what I going to do. I was so confident to go out there in the beginning and excited to step into that light but when I think about it, it is scary. I almost don't want to go."

Vito heard that part and he was worried for Terra, perhaps his attempt to kill the guy had a bigger negative impact than he thought. And he was also angry that now Terra was having second thoughts because he really wanted to go. But he put aside those selfish feelings of his. Human or not he wasn't going to let them get the better of him.

"Having second thoughts?" Cyrus asked. There was a sound of concern in his voice, the sound of a friend who wanted to help another friend. And in the back of his mind, there was the scene of Ariel telling him that Terra could still give up his title to one of them.

If one of them were to use this weakness as a chance to take his place without killing him then this would have been the moment. But that wasn't Cyrus, he wasn't that type of person. At least not anymore.

"Maybe you are right Vito. Maybe I am not cut out for this thing," Terra said as he turned and looked at Vito. There was a tear in his eye.

"Woah! What brought all this about?" Vito now with a suspicious and concerned expression. At first, he thought this was his time to make up with Terra and get past the mistake he made of trying to kill him, and now all of a sudden Terra thinks he shouldn't go!? The change doesn't make sense.

On Terra's shoulder, his Shoulder could be seen glowing and at first only Cyrus had noticed it but soon it had been glowing past his shirt. Even Terra noticed it.

"What is this?" Terra asked a little frightened as his emotions were still all over the place.

"I don't really know much about it but I think it senses you are in pain and it is trying to help calm you down," Vito said calmingly with his arms out in peace. It was similar to how people would try and act when taming an animal.

"Terra, I don't want you to feel that way! I know it's because of me and what I said. I shouldn't have tried to kill you. I wasn't thinking right and tried to use my own selfish desires as an excuse to retaliate against you. I am sorry."

"It's not just that Vito!" Terra said painfully, "It's not just that you tried to kill me but it's for a moment that I thought about it too. I have killed someone before and when you betrayed me, a thought of killing you emerged in my mind as well."

"I'm scared that I will change as if I am going to see killing as an option to get through my problems. I don't want to become that person again."

Cyrus and Vito were both stunned. Terra wanted to kill Vito? They didn't think he was capable of murder, he looked so sweet. And much more than that, he already has blood on his hands.

"Maybe that's why you were chosen. Maybe that's why we were all chosen," Cyrus started off, "I came to a conclusion and I don't think any of us here have grown up with a normal childhood. But that's a good thing. We can all grow and help each other, can't we?"

Terra looked at Cyrus with a tearful expression and when he looked at Vito it hurt him. He could picture Vito's face pummeled in with Terra's fist dripping with blood.

"I am scared Cyrus, I don't want to become less than human by killing again. And I am scared that I am going to disappoint the world if I go. I've been thinking about it, what makes me qualified to go? What makes me so special? Alex himself is far more experienced in life than me so why am I the one chosen? It's like I want to say yes but don't feel I deserve it at the same time."

"Terra," Vito said with a soft voice. His hand lying on Terra's glowing shoulder and his face was right in front of him. Cyrus had stayed back. He wanted to allow Vito to clear things up and finally get this matter resolved.

"Stop overthinking. You are acting like me. You feel like you are not going to do enough and yet at the same moment you feel like you will be doing too much. And that type of thinking tears us apart. You were chosen for a reason, you can get through this and we will be right here on earth waiting for you to get back."

"Also, I am sorry. Sorry that I made you feel this way. It seems like it's not the first time. So I am sorry that I reopened old wounds. Maybe one day we can all share our stories with each other and laugh about life over ice cream."

Terra looked at Vito and finally, he had stopped thinking of the gruesome scene of his body lying dead cold on the floor. It made him smile and his shoulder had stopped glowing.

"I would like vanilla," he said finally putting on a smile with a final tear down his eye.

"What Vanilla is so plain though," Cyrus said in the corner.

"What!?" Terra protested, "But it's the best flavor."

"I don't know, I feel like dark chocolate is better," Cyrus replied. This of course was a lie as Cyrus himself preferred vanilla but was hoping to use this opportunity to cheer up Terra and get him away from the bad thoughts he previously had. Also, Cyrus enjoyed causing friendly disputes and debates.

"Vanilla is way better! Vito, tell him!" Terra said as he hopefully sought aid in Vito's eyes.

Vito turned his head away as he didn't want to meet Terra's puppy eyes face to face, "Actually I am more of a strawberry kind of guy," Vito reluctantly said.

"Oh! Pink is a nice color for you," Cyrus said.

"I said I like the flavor, not the color," Vito's rebuttal was quick and defensive and the tone had given Cyrus enough information to realize that Vito had a history with the color pink. Perhaps school trauma. He would surely use this for later.

"Oh, pink I see," Cyrus said with a sly smirk crawling up, Vito seeing this had thrown a pillow at Cyrus's face but he caught it before it made contact.

"What type of person hits a guy with glasses," Cyrus said laughing, "Not even a girl would stoop so low."

"You took them off, you bastard!" Vito said throwing another one.

The two boys had begun throwing pillows about and hitting each other. Terra had tried to defuse the situation but he had been dragged into it. And now the boy was forced to defend himself against the two monsters. He was a necessary casualty to them. Unwanted but unavoidable.

Outside their room, John had been listening carefully.

He was worried something would happen to Terra but was proud that they handled it on their own.

"They are growing," he said, "Alex will be proud."

He was still curious though. This was the second time a reaction like this had occurred.

"I didn't expect Terra to admit to those feelings in front of them so soon already. I guess the uncertainty of when he is leaving and the thought of his past actions happening again had stressed him out to such a point. Still more, Earth. Don't you think you are taking it too hard on these kids? I know you want them to grow as quickly as possible but it almost feels cruel."

John was now heading away from their rooms, with their cheers happening now he felt no need to continue watching over them.

As he was making his way he saw Dawn walking towards the bedroom and he seemed kind of out of it.

Dawn had been trying to remember what exactly had happened when he went down those steps. Part of it felt like a blur. He decided that later on he would go check it out again or at least he considered it. A gut feeling in him was telling him not to! And a stinging pain on his shoulder was felt when he thought about it each time.

"Ah! Dawn of the 7 houses, heading off to sleep?" John said as he bowed down to him.

"Enough with the fancy sh*t, that may work well on Edith but not me. I'll be heading to my room now and don't try to watch me like you did back at the hotel."

And with that Dawn went his way. John continued to smile though, he knew he would get through to the boy someday.

As Dawn reached the door, he could hear some sounds coming from the bedroom.

"Oh, right. I'm sharing a room now, what a pain. I miss living alone."

From the outside, it sounded very lively inside.

He heard a bed squeak with some spring sounds going off as if someone was jumping on it.

"Give up now! I have the high ground," Someone said.

"Stop! Vito, this isn't like you!" another person said not too far off from the first person.

"Three pillow style," the third person said much further away from the first two.

Dawn opened the door and the first thing that had happened before he could walk in was a pillow had hit his face. It was thrown by Cyrus at Vito who was standing on a bed with Terra down by his side on the floor.

"What are you guys-" Before he could finish his sentence another pillow had hit his face.

"Stop-!" and another pillow.

"Guys I am not in the mood-" And a third pillow.

Cyrus was now out of pillows.

"If you would just-" And Vito threw his last pillow at Dawn. It was payback for Dawn saying he sucked.

Dawn had now completely lost it and was charging at the three of them with 4 pillows. Terra who hadn't thrown a pillow at him was dragged into it and now he wished he had if he knew that he would be attacked anyway.

Cyrus was laughing to himself loudly, "I guess it takes four to make the bull mad."

And with that, the boys were now engaged in an all-out Pillow War.
