Loving his flaws?!

Liam's suggestion took Lucy back. Her wide eyes stared at the man opposite her and he gave her a wink.

"Think what I'm saying...that's not a bad site. Both of you falling in love...and him retiring his powers. Not a bad idea."

Hearing this, Lucy sighed. She closed her eyes and tried to imagine herself and that situation but there was nothing except the deep blackness covering her eyes.

She shook her head and laid her arms softly on the desk as she told Liam, "I can't. He isn't the guy I'm looking forward to...not the right guy."

"Nobody's perfect Lucy. Maybe one day you end up loving his flaws too and he turns out to be the opposite of your ideal type but you would still want him to be the one..."

The much Lucy tried to deny it, her lips were sealed. She was in no position to say anything and only closed her eyes to calm her mind.

On seeing her sitting quietly, Liam didn't try to disturb her privacy anymore and took his leave, which made Lucy a bit relaxed.

She continued her work with a lot of hard work to not deviate from her nature. 'Forgot about what happened earlier, Lucy. He will forget and will find someone else..'

But to her surprise, she didn't get to face Davis for the next three days.

As if the luck was in her favor, she was grateful for the same. A few days gave her a mental break and she got back on her senses to know how to face him.

It was as if heaven had granted her wishes earlier than expected.

Currently, Lucy was chatting with her colleague, until one of the other secretaries informed her that her boss would like to see her in his cabin quickly.

She was dumbfounded but knew that it wasn't her place to deny it. Arranging her stuff, Lucy made her way to his cabin before taking a deep breath while standing out.

'Three days.. he gave you enough time.' if she had to work here, it would be impossible not to see her boss.

So better to ease these awkward feelings between them today...

Pushing the knob, she entered inside and found Davis reading a file. But to her surprise, he wasn't alone. Along with him was one of their few clients and she greeted both of them. "Sir, you called me..."

Davis's eyes swept across her face before replying, "There is a meeting in the next few minutes. You will need to accompany me into this."

"Alright. May I know about the investor so that I can go through their file once?" Lucy requested and Davis gave her the name of the group that was going to hold the meeting.

Instead of making things difficult for her, Davis handed her the file and she went through the major pointers as quickly as possible.

She had taken a seat in the corner of Davis's cabin and with utmost concentration, read all the details. Unknown to her, someone's eyes did fall on her more than once.

Davis had checked her dressing which was pleasing to his eyes. She was wearing a formal white shirt paired with denim jeans, reaching up to her ankle. Below were high heels and on observing carefully, Davis knew that her feet weren't made of plastic but all flesh. Without any doubt, she was stunning.

He swiftly removed his gaze from her and started working on his file again, until his door was knocked again by Liam to remind them about their meeting.

The three of them walked into the conference room and Lucy sat with others after formal greetings and introduction. Initially, the lights were dimmed and the presentation was explained perfectly as it should be. The other team was proficient and in the middle, Lucy kept on writing the minutes of the meeting. Liam on the other hand questioned along with Davis.

When the presentation ended, it was the turn of verbal comments about the project.

But in the middle of the ongoing meeting, there was a call on Lucy's phone. Since she was wearing her AirPods, she had switched it on, especially on seeing an unknown number.

When she heard the words of the other party, her heart stopped beating.

She froze on her spot without responding to Liam's question, as her eyes bulged out. Her mind went blank for a few minutes until she recovered from her daze to pull out the phone and ask again,

"C-can you...please send me the....address..."

With this, she hung up the call and raised her head to look at Davis, who was also looking at him with a questionnaire glare. "I'm sorry...ladies and gentlemen but I will need to leave urgently. T-There is some personal emergency...I...I will take my leave."

Horror never left her face and Davis only saw her back leaving the conference room. He didn't know why but seeing her expression, gave him a hint that there must be something big for her to worry about and run away like this.

In his eyes, she was an efficient employee and mentioning personal emergencies means something related to her family.

Davis swept his glance at Liam before whispering, "Find out about it later."

With this, he looked at the other people in the meeting to open his mouth, "Continue the meeting now."
