Of course, I care deeply for the wellbeing of my dragon knight. I am committed to fulfilling his every wish to the best of my ability. My Amphy's happiness is of utmost importance to me. In the present moment, he sought answers, and so, I accompanied him to the holy Cathedral Exa, where we once again approached H.G. in search of clarity. Our quest for understanding revolved around his unique power, the Eye of Deus, yet H.G.'s response remained as cryptic as ever.
"Boy is certainly an idiot. I have told the boy over and over again, but the boy has yet to understand. The Eye of Deus is the power of the Old Deus, who mastered ancient witchcraft and sealing spells. It is the very root of the Vesryn Pulse itself. With that power, the boy can perfectly manipulate the hearts of the dragons without the need for a contract or the recitation of the verses of the Vesryn Pulse."
Amphy scratched his head, displaying a naïve smile. "S-So basically, I cannot only fuse dragons, but also use Vesryn Pulse on other dragonoids too?"
"Yes, though you can only use it once every seven days." H.G. replied, offering us a faint smile. "It's perfect timing for the boy to come here. I have someone to introduce."
The gigantic wooden door swung open, revealing a captivating maiden adorned in a priestess's attire that complemented her innocent yet mature appearance. It was evident that this woman was a dragonoid, given her crimson eyes, but what truly caught our attention was the glowing golden gem adorning her forehead, adorned with intricate micro runes.
However, what troubled us even more was her ample bosom! I found myself completely defeated in terms of bust size, and even Amphy couldn't help but have his eyes fixated on her, his cheeks flushing a deep shade of red! Oh, why have you forsaken me!
"This is Exceria, the most powerful dragonoid in existence," H.G. proclaimed with a cheeky attitude.
"N-Nice to meet you… Sir Amphere Harrison…" the beautiful lady greeted with utmost politeness. Flustered, Amphy mirrored the gesture, and they exchanged a cordial handshake.
As I observed the exchange, my eyes shifted from Amphy to the lady and back to Amphy again. A feeling of unease gnawed at me in the presence of this woman. It seemed she had already captured my husband's heart with just a simple "Nice to meet you!" My jealousy flared up uncontrollably!
"No one has ever succeeded in making a Vesryn Pulse contract with her. All dragon knights also have a compatibility rate of 0% with her. Let's see if the boy has the power to show her glorious dragon form," H.G. continued.
My emotions reached a boiling point. "What! This buxom lady will perform Vesryn Pulse with my Amphy! No way! Totally!" I protested vehemently.
"It's for the best," Amphy responded calmly. "I need to strengthen my Eye of Deus to win the tournament, Airi."
My protests subsided, and I fell silent, bowing my head as I sulked in a corner of the room. Doubts plagued my mind, wondering if Amphy wanted to experience new things without me, his adorable dragonoid. Did he no longer wish for me to be his dragon?
Lost in melancholic thoughts, I remained immersed until Amphy came near, gently patting my head as one would a loyal companion. "Don't worry, Airi. You're still my dragonoid," he reassured me, providing a glimmer of comfort in the midst of my insecurities.
The words of the love of my life did affect my mood, totally! But I managed to return to normal and responded with the cutest smile I could muster. "It can't be helped then. Well, as your understanding girlfriend, I shall let it slide. Just this time. Totally!"
"You're not my girlfriend," Amphy retorted, adding a hint of sarcasm to his smile.
We proceeded to have a heartbeat monitor device scan Amphy and Exceria's heartbeats. As the graph displayed, H.G.'s words held true – zero percent compatibility. The differences between their heartbeats were stark. Amphy's heartbeats appeared completely normal, while Exceria's heartbeats were strikingly slow and faint, a sight I had never witnessed before.
"Maybe the boy should resort to 'that'," H.G. suggested, wiping her silver hair with a sigh. Confused, the three of us exchanged ignorant looks, silently urging her to elaborate on what she meant by 'that'. With another sigh, H.G. continued, "By 'that,' I mean the boy should increase the power of his bond to Exceria. He needs to have a date with her."
"T-The what now?" Amphy exclaimed, visibly flustered, much like Exceria. As for me, it felt like my heart skipped a beat.
"In order to perform a Vesryn Pulse, the dragon and the knight must share a precious moment together," H.G. clarified.
I wanted to protest, but seeing that both Amphy and Exceria agreed to the date, I decided to let it slide, just for this day. Nevertheless, my heart ached, and the surge of jealousy and protectiveness within me intensified. I made a conscious effort to be a sympathetic wife for Amphy and support him despite the emotional turmoil I was experiencing. But the thought of anything going awry during their date made me feel like I could lash out at that woman. Totally!
The next day, I helped Amphy dress up like an American businessman, using makeup to make him look even more presentable and handsome than any man on the planet. Even though this wasn't my date, I wanted Amphy to be happy for this occasion, though it pained my heart deeply.
They rendezvoused at the central square, a picturesque setting filled with floating red and white umbrellas. There, in the central fountain, stood Exceria, looking enticing in a revealing pink blouse, which I believed didn't befit a priestess. My jealousy flared up even more upon seeing her attire.
"Y-You look gorgeous," Amphy stammered, clearly affected by Exceria's allure.
"T-Thanks… You're so handsome, too," Exceria replied, her cheeks flushing with a blush. As I observed the exchange, my emotions roiled within me, and I wanted to kick them both! Totally!
Overwhelmed with feelings of jealousy, hurt, intrigue, rage, and heartbreak, I felt like a burden if I were to stay with them. So, I decided to watch from a distance, trying to convince myself to endure it just for this time. However, as time passed, my emotions only intensified. Anger and possessiveness consumed me, making it challenging to keep my composure.
First, they headed to the Food Street and ordered a variety of delectable treats, including corn dogs, crispy chicken skin, shawarma, and ice cream. They even had an entertainer clown take a picture of them at the central fountain, capturing their happy moments together. However, my jealousy made it difficult for me to enjoy witnessing their joyful time.
At one point, some of the vanilla ice cream accidentally stained Exceria's dress, right on the chest part. Amphy gallantly wiped it off for her using his handkerchief, which only added to the pang of jealousy I felt.
As they continued their date at the carnival near the Food Street, I couldn't bear to watch any longer. My emotions were too overwhelming, and it hurt me to see them together, being all lovey-dovey. Totally!
Finally, when the sun had set, I put on a fake smile as I rendezvoused with the couple. I intended to pretend that everything was fine, but deep inside, I knew I would later vent my frustrations about the situation.
"So, what happened on your date?" I asked, trying to mask my true feelings.
"I-It's great!" Exceria exclaimed with infectious enthusiasm. D-D-Darn her! I couldn't help but clench my fists tightly as she animatedly recounted the events of their day together. "I was absolutely terrified inside that haunted house, and, well, I might've accidentally hugged Amphere over ten times! Then, bless his heart, Amphere helped me onto the carousel since I couldn't manage it myself with my chest condition. We took our sweet time riding and chatting away as we enjoyed the view from the majestic ferris wheel!"
T-T-This gal! I battled the strong urge to punch her as she continued to gush about her adventure, until a slip of her tongue revealed something intriguing.
"Aaaah," Exceria let out a satisfied moan, her eyes reflecting fond memories. "It's been ages since I tried those rides. The last time I went to a carnival was about five hundred years ago, before the First Dragonoid War. Vesryn kept me confined inside the cathedral ever since."
I could overlook 'five hundred years ago' as a mere figure of speech, but the mention of the First Dragonoid War, which occurred around four centuries ago, and Vesryn, revered as the goddess of Alterra, sent a shiver of terror down my spine.
