Chapter 36: We are the top sixteen!

Louis looked up, stunned for a moment, and then realized:

"Okay, sorry, I just sat down..."

He was a little incoherent, and quickly retracted his straight legs.

The visitor smiled, walked past Louis, and sat down beside him.

This is a Latina girl with fluttering black hair and a good figure. She has a fair complexion and a dark black sweater inside a yellow windbreaker with a vivid stick figure of a bulldog printed on it.

Her appearance wasn't all that stunning, but her eyes had a softness that ordinary American girls didn't have, which made Louis turn his head "inadvertently" frequently to look at her.

In his distraught, the game finally started.

Although the distance was a bit far, Louis could still clearly see the situation on the field.

Seeing that Drew failed to jump the ball, he clapped his hands in frustration, and then he was nervous about the team's defense. The opponent had won 7 NCAA championships and ranked first in the number of wins and winning percentage in NCAA history. Super wealthy!

But he soon breathed a sigh of relief. Kentucky State missed the offense and the rebound was grabbed by Drew.

The Bulldogs attacked, Curry advanced to the frontcourt with the ball, Drew followed up from behind to cover, and Louis's mood that had just been relaxed became tense again.

He had been looking at the girl next to him just now, and didn't pay attention to the introduction to the Kentucky State players. The opponent's No. 5 center who didn't know his name came up to defend, but Drew's screen was very solid. Curry got a little gap and directly shot a three-pointer !

The basketball was still flying in the air, and Louis raised his hands high, attracting the attention of the people around him.

But then the ball went into the net hollow, and Louis yelled triumphantly, smiling happily.

He watched all of Butler's home games, and sometimes went to pick up the ball for Curry in extra practice. He was so familiar with his shooting that he knew he was going to score the ball as soon as he made it.

Looking back, Kentucky State had the ball, and Louis kept chanting "no score", but the No. 21 guard in his formation still hit a mid-range shot.

The round changed, and this time Curry faced the opponent's strict defense and did not get an easy shot.

He didn't need to hold the ball hard at the beginning of the game, and he passed the ball to AJ Graves.

Louis's hand clenched into a fist, and the Bulldogs' shots looked dangling to him, except for Curry.

This time AJ Graves seized the opportunity, shook his opponent, made a pull-up jumper, and Louis applauded and cheered.

But the next turn, his heart went up again, nervous about the Bulldogs defense...

In the game, time often passes quickly, and the first half passed quickly under the constant emotional ups and downs of Louis.

After halftime, the Bulldogs led Kentucky State by 46 points 38:8, which put Louis in a good mood.

Throughout the first half, he was either cheering for the Bulldogs' successful attack, or he was annoyed by the team's failed defense. He kept moving and shouting, and he was already sweating a lot.

He is a typical representative of American fans.

They like to go to the scene to watch the game, and devote themselves to the frenzied atmosphere of the scene. After watching the whole game, they are either hearty, or frustrated and disappointed, and their emotions are fully released.

They didn't have time to study the formations and tactical arrangements of the two sides in the fierce game. They focused more on scoring goals, and they didn't even know much about the players in the opponent's team.

Louis picked up a can of beer at his feet and was about to drink it. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the Latina girl next to him. His heart moved, he put down the beer calmly, replaced it with a bottle of Coke, and drank it in a big gulp.

After drinking most of the bottle of Coke in one breath, Louis let out a long breath.

He put down the Coke, and said to the girl beside him seemingly casually:

"Are you a Bulldogs fan too?"

"Yeah," the Latina girl laughed, "You too? I see you've been rooting for the bulldogs."

"My name is Louis, and I'm a student at Butler University," he explained.

The Latin goddess widened her eyes and said in surprise:

"Are you a student of Butler, too? My name is Christy, a freshman in law school."

"Wow, what a coincidence? I'm also a freshman, majoring in sociology." Louis was very pleasantly surprised. He felt that his college life had finally ushered in spring.

Where should we go for our honeymoon in the future, the golden beach in Miami should be good...

He stared at Christie, his mind already flying to the sky.

Louis didn't think about it for too long, the 15 minutes of the intermission passed quickly, and the game continued in the second half.

He looked at the big screen in the middle of the court, and the camera was aimed at Curry.

He's chewing on his braces, hands on hips, squinting at the Kentucky State players across the way.

Louis leaned back in his chair, showing a relaxed smile:

"Curry is in very good condition, we will win this game!"

"How do you know? His performance in the first half didn't seem to be very good." She asked curiously.

"He's my roommate. Have you seen the look in his eyes? When he looks at people like that, the opponent will be in trouble." Louis said firmly.

Christie glanced at him dubiously, but didn't say anything more.

The first offense in the second half was initiated by Kentucky State University. Louis watched the court nervously, seeing that the No. 21 guard who often scored in the first half broke through Curry and made a layup.

"Fake!"

He cursed under his breath, and his attention was immediately drawn to Curry.

Curry took the ball to the frontcourt, facing Kentucky State's No. 21 defense, a fluent Bever flew him, broke through to the inside, and made a one-step throw from the free throw line.

"Good!"

Louis threw a punch, and there was a burst of cheers in the arena. Curry's shot was really beautiful.

Looking back, Kentucky State No. 21 successfully broke through Curry again, but in the face of Drew's interference, the shot was deformed, the mid-range shot was hit, and the rebound was protected by Campbell.

"Counterattack!"

While Louis was shouting, Curry received a pass from Campbell, quickly advanced to the frontcourt, and made a super long three-pointer in two steps from beyond the three-point line!

No. 21, who returned to defense, was caught off guard and had no time to interfere. He could only watch the basketball fly over his head, draw a beautiful arc in the air, and fall into the net. The white net flew up, as if splashing. The splash is average.

After the ball was scored, Curry raised his hands high, raised three fingers each, and retreated back to the defense, causing warm cheers from Butler fans.

Christie applauded vigorously, her face flushed, and she excitedly said to Louis;

"Curry's three-point shot is so cool, it's more exciting than dunking!"

"Of course, I grew up watching the NBA, and no one has ever been able to shoot like him!" Louis said with a smile, his eyes swept over her graceful body, and then quickly moved away.

Whether it is a girl or a boy, or two children, although it is a bit annoying, but Christie should like it...

In the second half of the game, as Lewis predicted, Curry's three-point shooting was completely opened up. Facing Kentucky State's defense, he was in nowhere.

Kentucky State focused its defensive attention on Curry, but to no avail. Instead, Curry passed the ball to drive his teammates' offense, and the Bulldogs blossomed more.

Louis saw their young head coach sitting on the sidelines on the big screen, with a relaxed expression, and waved to the camera, making a victory gesture, which caused cheers from all the Butler fans in the audience.

The Kentucky State fans have been quiet since the second half, and the sky-blue ocean that occupies most of the Jones Center has not caused the slightest ripple, just like a pool of stagnant water.

With eight minutes left in the game, the Bulldogs had a 8-point lead at 64:50 at Kentucky State.

brush!

Curry came out from the inside with Drew's screen, received a pass from Ben Slaton, and made another three-pointer. The Bulldogs' lead expanded to 17 points.

Zhang Yu appeared on the big screen again. He was still sitting there as steady as Mount Tai, in stark contrast to the head coach of Kentucky State who was about to jump in a hurry on the other side of the technical stage.

"Coach Z's move is so subtle, I didn't expect him to let Ben Slayton play!" Louis laughed.

Christie nodded heavily:

"That's right, and he was the one who discovered Curry. The team was able to enter March Madness, thanks to Coach Z!"

Even if they are not a tactical party, after watching the Bulldogs game for a season, they know several tactics of the team, one of which is the double point guard lineup with Ben Slaton and Curry on the court at the same time.

When Curry missed three shots in a row and his touch dropped slightly, Zhang Yu quickly replaced Ben Slaton on the court, but Kentucky State still guarded Curry strictly and didn't care much about Ben Slaton.

This defensive strategy was punished very early on.

After Ben Slaton came on the field, he showed the characteristics of strong impact, and succeeded in breaking through with the ball again and again, forcing the opponent to tilt their defensive attention to him.

After disrupting Kentucky State's defense, Ben Slaton reduced his personal offense and deliberately passed the ball to Curry, who was running off the ball.

While Ben Slayton is on the ball, Curry has been drawing defenses off the weak side off the ball.

After Kentucky State's defensive focus shifted, he immediately turned into a cold-blooded killer, getting rid of defenders through dexterous running, and frequently hitting three-point catches.

Kentucky State's nerves, already stretched to the limit, were completely disconnected after Curry made two consecutive three-pointers, and morale plummeted.

They were a mess on the offensive end, they got the ball and did it, there was no strategy, no enthusiasm on the defensive end, the inside was wide open, and Drew and Campbell both dunked easily.

Finally, as the buzzer sounded, the game ended, and the Bulldogs beat Kentucky State 86:70!

Louis got up and cheered loudly, and suddenly hugged Christie excitedly:

"We won! We are the top sixteen! We won!"

Christie instinctively wanted to push Louis away, but when he heard his excited voice, he gently wrapped his backhand around Louis with a reddish face, and said with a smile:

"Yeah, we won!"
