Chapter 5 : Lost Village

"Shit!" screamed Uno. Uno immediately activated his [Urge] and [Heaven's Authority]. Uno at once felt a sudden surge of energy. He promptly strikes and stabs the first approaching rat. Uno was unable to move due to the swarm's volume, so he attempted to stab whatever rat he found to kill.

Fortunately, Uno's personal strength has increased tremendously. In peak conditions, Uno's Endurance attribute alone is approximately four times that of a rat's endurance attribute. As a result, the rat's bites are less likely to puncture his skin but might still leave a mark.

Uno front-kicked a [Grass Rat] and swung his weapon to clear the way, wounding several rats. Uno strikes again, this time piercing the head of a rat.

Uno was taken aback but expected it given how he caused a slaughter, but Uno refocused his thoughts on his current predicament. The significant boost in his core attribute elevated his combat ability even further. Uno's increased endurance and strength attributes made his attacks more ferocious. Furthermore, the new title [Rat Eradicator] made his strikes more lethal with each blow and stab.

Uno got more fortified; even when bitten, there is no trace of the bite, and he can now instantly kill a rat. While clearing the swarm, Uno takes a forward direction.

Uno enthusiastically repeated his tactics. The swarm started splitting up and it appears that the title had some mental impact on the rats. When Uno obtained the new title [Rat Eradicator], several [Grass Rat] instantly began running, relieving the pressure on the situation.

Uno fought for around an hour and used [𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲] twice, excluding the first activation. Uno 113 killed [Grass Rat] after the fight and appeared to be completely alright. He did not sustain any lacerations or bite wounds. Uno, on the other hand, is mentally exhausted from making rapid assessments to avoid being overwhelmed by the swarm. Uno was OK otherwise, but just to be careful, he believed in a classic Chinese idiom saying that enough ants can bite an elephant to death.

Uno proceeds to investigate the lost village and comes into a ruined thatched hut. He entered one of the thatched huts and found nothing inside, but he wanted to rest for a bit before continuing his exploration. Uno viewed his [𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧].

Uno does not really need to rely on [𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲] to kill a [Alpha Grass Rat]. He nearly doubled his strength and endurance attributes. Furthermore, Uno noted that as his intelligence attribute grows, so do his energy points and energy regeneration.

"Hm... 160 more EXP and I'll be level 4; it's also difficult to level my skills," Uno muttered.

Uno was puzzled as to why there is a Lost Village and what was going on. Uno took a break for thirty minutes before starting his investigation.

Uno explored every ruined thatched cottage and occasionally stumbled upon some [Grass Rat]. The abandoned cottages are inhabited by several rats. After 15 minutes, Uno had killed 30 [Grass Rat] although had not found anything.

"Oh yeah! If this is also the same as [Breeze Village], there should be a fine-wooden house located in the center," Uno thought abruptly.

Uno instantly went towards the lost village's center and discovered a ruined wooden home. Uno then pondered how he was going to proceed. Uno considers the possibility that there are some concealed dangers surrounding the lost village; for example, if he enters the wooden house, the same incident may occur shortly after he enters the lost village.

"Hm... since I'm not sure what could happen, let's just clean up the vicinity and then enter," Uno reasoned.

Uno wiped the lost village for approximately an hour. The size of the lost village was comparable to that of the [Breeze Village]. Uno's second [Grass Rat] kill brought him up to level 4, excluding the two rat kills. Uno was successful in killing 229 [Grass Rat]. Furthermore, he met 14 [Alpha Grass Rat], which caused Uno to activate [𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞] and [𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲] to guarantee there was no space for error.

"No hints, huh... it seems that this wooden house contains all of the answers," Uno reasoned.

Uno took a 15-minute break before proceeding to the ruined wooden house. Uno clutched [Rat's Tooth] tightly and carefully opened the wooden door. Absolutely nothing happened once the door was completely opened.

Uno peered inside the wooden house for any unusual movements. Uno did not detect any unusual movements coming inside the wooden house. Then Uno made the decision to enter the ruined wooden house.

"Oh, Shit!" Uno was caught off-guard by the unexpected notification. "This is a residence? more like a dwelling" Uno said after reading the notification.

Uno investigated the wooden house and discovered damaged tables, chairs, and one shattered mirror. Uno searched all cabinets and storage areas but found nada. Uno then noticed a painting on a wooden wall. It portrays an elderly man with white hair bearing a staff on top of his chest.

Uno took the painting off the wall and discovered a large hole in the wooden wall. A notebook is sitting up on the holed wooden wall. Uno grabs the notebook and opens it. The notebook contains some written content, but Uno can not grasp the contents or the dialect.

Uno really wants to get some rest and recuperate, but he is concerned about his safety. Uno is debating whether he should sleep in Lost Village for the time being or go to toward [Breeze Village] and enter after daylight.

"Hmm... I might get eaten alive before I wake up, and there's a chance the swarm lives in Lost Village." Uno made-up his mind up to leave and get to [Breeze Village] as quickly as possible.

Around [Breeze Village]. Earlier before Uno's break-in to the abandoned chief residence in the lost village. The swarm shuddered and shrieked all at once. It started sprinting westward. Additionally, there is a human-looking thing in the midst of the swarm.

It declared, "A rat has crept into our sought-out dwelling; catch it and guarantee that person does not escape."

Uno is completely unaware of the looming disaster. He headed east, in the direction of [Breeze Village]. Uno is whistling as he checks for any [Grass Rat].
