Chapter 89

When Hudson and Darius leave the Red Dawn, Darius grabs Hudson's shoulder.

"What are you talking about with Ludger before you enter the restaurant?" Darius asks with a smile on his face.

Although there is a saying that people won't hit someone who smiles at you, but Hudson really wants to hit Darius right now. Hudson only holds himself from hitting him because of his status in this city. Darius whom Hudson knows has changed after meeting with that mother and child pair.

"Do you know that he has been feeling someone watching him these few days? I met him looking around the surrounding area but he said it had disappeared." Hudson answered honestly about what he remembered.

"So he also feels it too. No, from what you told me, it seems that Ludger is able to feel the vague direction of it..." Darius said as he analyzes Hudson's words.

"Hmm, that face... I have a bad feeling every time I see you make that expression." Hudson was terrified when he saw Darius's expression.

"You will help me, right?" Darius asked nicely but for Hudson, it was similar to threatening him.

'Hmm?!' Renneshia looked around as she saw a familiar darkness.

Then she saw a light and when she got closer, she saw two familiar faces It was Pendragon and Kadaklan who currently discussing war tactics. On the table, there is a map and something like pebbles with different colours that they put on the map.

Renneshia tries to peek at Shia's memories. From Shia's memories, Renneshia knows that after the battle with the undead hordes that surround the temple, they move to the West. On their way, they met with the God of Chaos apostles.

The apostles are the people of the sixth race who choose to be the God of Chaos devoted believers and surrender their lives and souls to the God of Chaos. Those people are trying to capture Shia and offer her as a sacrifice to the God of Chaos.

Shia has a hard time fighting them because she can't kill them. That's why Pendragon and his group are helping her and protect her with the temple warrior. But the temple warrior seems to dislike Pendragon and his group, especially their leader, Sir Mordake. He always glaring glares whenever Shia talks with Pendragon and Kadaklan.

And when Renneshia peeked more from Shia's memories, she realized that the warriors of the temple were angry because Shia's relationship with Pendragon getting closer. The beginning was after Shia killed the undead Ephialtes that she treated like her own father.

Shia didn't show it in front of the other, even Albina. Shia tells everyone to leave her because she wants to rest. But it was her excuse to hide her sadness from them. She started to cry when everyone left her in her room. Shia felt hurt and it was the guilt that seemed to crush her heart. It was painful for her because she never thought that something as cruel as this would happen.

"Hiks...I'm sorry... Sob, I never think that I will kill you twice...sob...if only I never asked you to accompany me to the Northeast. I know I should not die but right now I feel more horrible than dying...sob..." Shia crying while blaming herself.

"Don't say something like that easily. You never know about it because it never happened to you so how could you know that it was more horrible than dying?" A familiar rude tone coming from behind.

"What do you know about my feelings!? Didn't I tell you to leave me alone!?" Shia angrily shouts at Pendragon who stands behind her.

"I don't care about your feelings. I only worried that you would do something stupid because of your grief. If something happens to you, who will pay us? But I never thought I would see your ugly crying face." Pendragon said as he frowned.

"You...! Is this funny to you? Why...why are you always doing this to me? I know you hate me but...sob...how could you say that?!" Shia's emotion was a mess and she unconsciously threw her anger at Pendragon and hit his chest.

"He must be someone important to you, right?" Pendragon only asked a question but he didn't stop Shia from hitting him.

"He...sob...he was like a father for me. But...sob...I...sob... I killed him twice. He must be really hate me, right?" Shia could not stop herself from crying and she asked a question as if looking for an answer.

Pendragon did not answer her but he embraced her and cares her head as if he was trying to calm the crying child. The more he keeps his silence, the more guilt Shia feels.

"I don't think he will hate you." After a long silence finally, Pendragon opened his mouth and said.

"Huh?!" Shia was dumbfounded at his answer and the shock made her stop crying.

"I don't think that person will hate you because it was not your fault. Didn't you say that you thought him like your father? Then he must thought of you as his daughter, right?" Pendragon said with a gentle smile.

It was the first time Shia saw him make this kind of expression. For some reason, she thought it looked good when he made that expression. But then, she thought about his question and nodded her head.

"If he thought you were his daughter, he would be happy if you lived happily even if he should give his life in exchange. So you must live happily from now on." Pendragon said while caressing Shia's head.

"How could you understand about what he is thinking?" Shia asks with a curious face.

"Of course, I know about it. Because our parents said something similar before they died when they were trying to protect us from the demon race." Pendragon confidently said.

"...I'm sorry." Shia feels sorry when she hears his reason.

Shia never thought that they had such a tragic past. At that time she realized that she never tried to understand the people around her as she rarely talked to them. She also always thinks that the person who with her right now is someone rude but unexpectedly he might be a good person.

"Why are you apologising to me, you stupid Saintess? And stop with that expression." Pendragon said with an annoyed tone.

"I...I always thought that you were just some rude thug. But I never thought you have such sad pasta ." Renneshia hesitated said.

"I don't need your pity. But what I want you to know is you need to live happily so you won't make the others who care about you sad even when they die." Pendragon said as his face got closer to her.

Babump. Babump.

Shia just realised what kind of position they were in. His serious face is so close to her and the hands that hold her body. But his words make her feel relief and cause her heart to beat so fast.

"To...to close..." Shia shyly said with a small voice and red face.

"Eh...Ah! I'm sorry for my discourtesy." Pendragon quickly moves his hands away and moves back with a red face.

"N-No, you just want to stop me from crying, right?" Shia shyly said.

"I'm glad you understand. You didn't know how ugly you look like when you were crying. Of course, I don't want to see it again if possible." Pendragon declared.

"Don't worry about it, I will never cry in front of you ever again." Shia angrily said.

But after she said it, Shia lost her consciousness as it moved to Renneshia and she saw her fate. It was a horrible future that she would face. Renneshia couldn't see it but Shia knew that she could not avoid her death in the future.

***

'So both of them seem to getting closer to each other. But what kind of love comedy-like story it is? And why are you so sure that you won't be able to avoid your death, Shia?' Renneshia thought.

"Why do you tell us to leave the temple and move to the West?" Mordake asks Shia the reason.

"Because it was my fate. I can't avoid it and am only able to accept it. Because I accidentally saw it." Shia said while looking at her reflection in her drink.

'You are answering to my questions, right? I don't know what you saw but how about you told me more about how close your relationship with Pendragon is right now?' Renneshia asks with a teasing tone.

"W-What?!" Shia was embarrassed and surprised by Renneshia's question and unconsciously turned her head in Pendragon's direction.

Her face was red and she stopped the meeting before quickly ru to her tent. She looked at the mirror and glared at her reflection.

"What are you talking about? What do you mean when you say that I...and that...rude man?" At first, Shia was angry but later she became too shy to say it.

'I saw your memories and look at how close both of you are. I think he also have some feeling for you too. How about becoming his lover?' Renneshia teased her.

"Why don't you care about your condition? Didn't your place is more than dangerous than mine? And you better to use this time wisely because it might be your last time to be able to talk with me." Shia shows an angry expression to hide her embarrassment before changing to a serious expression.

'So, why do you say that you can't avoid your fate and you will die in the future? Will I also be unable to avoid my future?' Renneshia ask the question that have bugging her from a long time.
